Correct flash gun for a Burke & James press?

    Hi folks,

Would anybody know what make / model flash gun would have been originally supplied with a Burke & James press camera? I haven't had much luck figuring this out.

    Why? For restoration purposes.

    Thanks!
    Jason

Any standard synchronizer battery case. Seriously. I don't think B&J made their own. So among the many, you can choose King Sol, Graflex, Heiland, Busch ... Basically a three D-cell battery size case, proper cord, and if needed for the particular lens, a synchronizer (solenoid) on the lens board.

    From the instructions.

I have dozens in storage and can look around when I'm in the shop next week.

Correct flash gun for a Burke & James press?

    Thanks...

I have a couple different types of mounting plates. First is on the camera, and second is on a spare Kalart cover that came off a severely water damaged B&J press that I use for spare parts:

You are in great shape, Jason because you have a choice of mounts. I am not familiar with the one in the first photo; I use the type in the second. Just be sure the rangefinder cover screw holes match if you use the second. (They probably do.)

While perusing the flashes available today you might experience some shock and disappointment when finding some Graflex flash units because they are priced crazy high to become Star Wars light sabers and sometimes modified which ruins the unit. I will look in storage if you wish. Let me know, please.

Yes, I've seen those prices. Craziness, but to each his own.

That would be great, Jac. Yes please look and let me know (via PM and we can arrange the details). I'd probably need a sync cable, too.

Didn't B&J have a house brand (repackaged stuff) like LUXO or something??? I had a catalog from them when they tried to carry everything...

But any flash holder that would fit would be correct for that period...

You got it, Steve. B&J was smart to leave flash to the buyer. So very many options then, all of which worked,
