    210mm Sironar N on 8x10?

    Hi,

I have this lens for 4x5 but was pleasantly surprised to see no vignetting when I mounted it on my 8x10 at f5.6. I've seen conflicting info in image circle, some saying it's 286, some 301mm. Has anyone every exposed a sheet of film with this? I will definitely try it once I get my pack of x-ray as I'd imagine it might be completely sharp stopped down and without movement.

Mine did not cover 8x10 at infinity.

A lens illuminating a full 8x10 ground glass does not mean that it covers 8x10 even when stopped down.

Look for a Fuji 250mm f/6.7 lens. They have an image circle of 398 and are going for cheap nowadays. Make sure it's the 6.7 lens. The writing will be on the inside around the glass and not the outside of the lens barrel. A great lens at a bargain price! Google it.

Second what Alan said! I've owned the Fujinon-W 210mm f/5.6 (older with writing inside barrel) and still own the 250mm f/6.7. While they'll both cover 8x10", the 250mm does so with extra wiggle room for movements. Both sell for ~ $1/mm, which is bargain barrel for 8x10" lenses.

Since you own it already, it is free to use. If it cuts into the corners a little ,you can crop that. Unless you insist on showing the rebate in the print.

+1 I use my APO-Symmar 210 on my old 8x10 and run the focus out just a little to cover the corners. The Sironar N needed a little more extension to cover but, it will cover just not at infinity.

That's an interesting idea - by "running the focus out" do you mean purposely going to macro distances in order to increase the coverage?

Not macro....just closer to the subject than infinity......9-10 inches of draw on an 8 1/4" lens...the IC is larger when closer to the subject
