Just looking for a budget lens in barrel to cover the format. I'm not picky, 250mm - 400mm range, process lens, enlarger lens. My B&L 11x14 1C might cover...but just barely. I would rather use a smaller lens. Thoughts?

How about a schneider Xenar 300mm f4.5. I bought mine for 100 bucks. I like it a lot. I see them for sale quite often.
Actually the Xenar might be too big for your taste. It has some weight.
You think the Xenar would cover 15"? As for the weight, my B&L is 385mm f/4.5 and weighs about 6lbs...just plain heavy. Would rather have something f/6.8 - f/9. I have a Congo 360mm in barrel but like the B&L...it might just barely cover.
Look for a 14" or 16" Dagor. They go from about $600 to about $4,000, depending on the sale!

Realizing now that the word "budget" in my OP was to subjective...
If you can find a 305/9 G-Claron in barrel, usually not too expensive, superb lens with enough coverage for that format.
Or unrealistic. You can get a lens to cover your Ultra Large Format for under $500. But under $100 or $150 will be harder. A non-photography lens should be your target, like you say. But I don't understand someone wanting to shoot so large, but then skimp to the bare minimum on the critical optical component.

I can explain - I acquired one film holder in that format. I am attempting to make a wooden adapter / extension so I can shoot using my 8x10 camera. If that is to challenging for me I may just make a ULF pinhole camera. My printing process will be cyanotypes from xray film and / or paper negs.
It's not that I don't want to spend for a good ULF lens, but since I injured my back I have been out of work and am not sure when I will be able to return - so, no income. Pretty much have to sell something before I buy something.
I am experimenting with other types of lenses, inexpensive meniscus.
Bryan, what lens do you have?
