Seek Calumet 10X10 Enlarger user or owner for 10X10 film carrier discussion

I bought a Calumet 8X10 enlarger some time ago. It came in pieces. I now use it, had no trouble moving, set up, but I went my own way with negative carriers and head. Works for me.

The seller told me a story that now I don't believe. He had a box of 10 custom 10X10 double glass film carriers in a special case that he said did NOT belong to the Calumet and furthermore did not fit it.

We were negotiating and I kept looking at this 'useless, doesn't fit' stuff and finally it was part of the purchase. I hate to leave a mystery 500 miles behind. Got home, dismissed the stuff as 'doesn't fit'. I posted pics here and APUG and nobody could identify what big enlarger they fit. I even sold 2, which I now regret.

Because tonight I was cleaning and decided it was time to do something as the case is big.

Short story, they fit the Calumet, but oddly, such as the bottom glass slides on steel, no way was that OEM design. Fixable, all useable, just needed a better look.

    Pics tell a story.

Does anybody know if these carriers are Calumet OEM, or custom?

4 have top AN glass, 3 bottom AN, 5 have bottom clear glass. Would people use top AND bottom AN or just top or just bottom?

Maybe a production set, where you could load 10 negs and just keep going.

The carrier has a nice design that lightly grips the neg between the 2 pieces of glass and it does not shift.

If clean inside, the neg would stay clean.

    Randy,

From the Spring 1971 Calumet Photographic Equipment for the Professional catalog (pages 32-37), I believe what you have is

"E-105 10x10" glass carrier for proofing roll film negatives, or printing negatives with art work ................. $75.00"

for the Calumet Color Enlarger Model E-100.

As I said in my PM, I'll send you photos of those catalog pages and you can post them to this thread if you like.

Eight is Enough as I foolishly sold 2.

Perhaps Drew will stop telling me glass less Calumet 8X10 carriers are no good. Maybe!

And enlarged 35mm, MF proof sheets coming right up!

I think you are correct. The norm is AN on top and clear glass below. I was just reporting how a couple were configured before i got them with AN top and bottom.

More info with pics is coming.
