    Sinar Norma Compendium Hood Adapter

My solution to the tragic Norma lens hood incompatibility issue:

The secret ingredient is a pair of 25mm M4 brass hex spacers designed to mount motherboards to computer cases. These are cheap and readily available on the Internet and they fit the newer lens hood clips perfectly (e.g. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/21-17905, but this is not a particular endorsement for this merchant). Just make sure to get spacers that measure 7mm flat-to-flat, since M4 spacers come in different hex widths.

    Complete parts list:

    2x 25mm M4 hex spacer, female/female, 7mm flat-to-flat
    2x 12mm M4 hex bolt
2x M4 split washer (important to keep the hood from rotating)
    40mm long aluminum bar

Drills the holes 25mm apart. It takes a bit of tinkering to get the angles right so that the hood is appropriately centered on the front standard.

    In action:

The only downside that I can identify is that the bellows has a slight additional tendency to sag in front because the hex rod is relying on the plastic clip for support instead of the metal chamber.

Thanks Jason -- I do like the idea of using the auxiliary standard to support the front. This should make the sagging a non-issue when I have the space in my bag. When traveling light, it's hard to beat the compactness of the hex rod, however...
