I use a Nikon LS-8000.
This video covers how to use the 'Lock Exposure' and 'Lock Film base Color' features of Vuescan in order to remove the orange mask. You only need to watch the first 10 minutes or less. This method is effective. A flatbed scanner is used in the video but the method works for dedicate scanners too.
Note that Vuescan is not really a photo editor. It does the scan and just gets the colors close. You still need to adjust the color balance in PS, Lightroom, or some other editor.
