I have Simmon's book and find it very useful. Practice, practice, practice is really the key.

I don't have the Stone book but I have Simmon's and have read & referred to older versions of Stroebel many times (I haven't seen recent editions) http://www.amazon.com/View-Camera-Te...el+view+camera
I think both are worthwhile. Simmons is more of an overview but with enough depth to get you past the raw basics. Stroebel is in depth and comprehensive but doesn't have any color pics so it might bore some people.
I'd get the cheaper of the two, I think either will give you the basics and it's just not that diffucult. L
I like Stone's and Simmons' books. Both were very helpful to me. I would pick up a used version of each.
I picked up a copy of the Stoebel book (1986 revision - what could possibly have changed?) for $5 shipped from half.com.
