My First Show Starts March 6 as Part of Month of Photography Denver

Hi all,

I will be exhibiting eight 16x20 photographs in a show at the Niza Knoll Gallery from March 6 to April 18, 915 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO. All images are from my series “Striving for the Light: The Trees of Washington Park.” They were taken handheld with a Speed Graphic and a 7.25” Verito, then scanned and printed digitally. You can view some of the images in the series on my website: http://peteralwynyork.com/portfolios/

I would like to thank everyone on this forum for their knowledge, opinions, and dedication to the art and craft of photography. I am a daily reader, and I simply would not be where I am at if this forum did not exist.

Peter, I'm trying to learn to use my "new" Verito. Have run into the problem that it must be used wide open to get the soft effect, requiring an incredible fast shutter speed or ND filter. How did you do it?

Thanks all for the encouragement. Bill, I typically set the Verito at f/5.6, with shutter speeds around 1/500 to 1/1000 with ASA 400 film. I use the focal plane shutter on my Pacemaker Speed Graphic. I tested the shutter and it rates 1/460 and 1/890, and is consistent within 1/3 stop.

Those are awesome Peter. I grew up in Denver and though I lived in the Harvey Park area I loved Washington Park, it was/is such a nice place located in an appropriately historic area of town.
