Exactly! Alex's amazing portrait makes me want to give wet plate a try.

And Ben, this is one of my favorite of your images. The draping fabric and echoed beads are a great touch to an amazing image.

Definitely inspirational. Whenever I see work I really admire, after enjoying it, my second impulse is to start reverse-engineering the lighting setups and camera angles.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.
Don't ever give up! It's like trying to play the piano.
You just need a lot of practising.

sometimes all pieces just fit perfectly and that's waht happened during this shoot.
The boy had beautiful eyes, he was a good sitter., chemicals all worked just fine and I managed to put the lights the way it worked fine.
So sometimes you need a little luck also!

Thanks, all! And I don't really sell prints as my traditional darkroom printing skills aren't up to scratch. (My digital printing skills are top notch though.) Someday maybe.

Here is my wife's friend Tulsi shot at the Indonesia stand of the International Food Fair. She is wearing Minangkabau traditional dress. This was shot with a on 5x7 Shanghai and lit with a handheld Yangnou flash diffused by a little umbrella.

"WOW! Now thats a big camera. By the way, how many megapixels is that thing?"
