Still life is the polar opposite of landscape. With landscape, God arranges the rocks, trees, water, weather and does all the propping. In still life....YOU'RE God.

Thanks, Peter. I have a few sheets of 4x5 color film remaining around here, and even a couple of sheets of 8x10 Portra, but I don't think in color very often these days. It's like my brain has started seeing exclusively in black and white, but sometimes, as with these golden onions on the green plate, or with some of the recent flower photos, the color of the subject is so strong that it forces me to break into my color film stash. Honestly, when I run out I'm not sure if I'll buy more considering the prices. But we'll see. It is nice to have the option.
