The more I use this camera, the more I love it. Rolleiflex automat tessar, Portra 160, probably handheld for about 1/20 sec. This is on Monroe Island near Owls Head Maine.

Terrific portrait Jason. I agree with your affection for the Rollei. Combined with your talent and the Portra, it renders wonderfully.

I can understand why; the 3-D feel is very apparent here. Very nice shot!

Thanks. It seems 3d partly from shooting wide open, partly from using color and texture differences to separate the subject from the surroundings.

The color is handled really beautifully. I downloaded a histogram plugin for my browser, just to get a grip on what was going on. I bought a few rolls of Portra based on photos exactly like this, but haven't finished a roll yet. I'm a B&W stalwart, but stuff like this makes me reconsider.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

Afghan photographer at work in kind of tiny format. May have been posted before but I had never seen it.

Thanks; the portra handles color nicer than any dslr I've had. Start using it.

Two recent photos of my grand niece with a Rolleicord and Xenar lens. The color one is with Portra, wide open at f3.5 in very dim light. The b&w one is at f4.
