Thought the A series was the lower "pro-Sumer" line?

Not really... they're excellent optics made to be small and lightweight as were the Fujinon-C series but the A series are apochromatic and optimized for close-up images. I think the A series is slightly larger.

    The C are also APO.

But not for close up, interesting, not "macro" but close to? For studio and still life I assume?

I'm sure the C series is quite nearly APO as are most lenses made within the last 30+ years but they're not designated as such... not that it really matters in practical photography.

In lens design jargon, Apochromatic means color-corrected at 3 distinct wavelengths (like achromatic is color-corrected at two distinct wavelengths). Its source is in astronomical optics design.

Does it mean the same for you guys?

Jesus with the demand for wetplate lenses you'd make a killing manufacturing your own line of brass lenses.

But it absolutely must be swirly Petzval, the bigger the better and as soon as somebody makes a new one all demand for it will disappear.

    Catch 22.

That's not a Catch 22. That's a lesson in free markets: if you can't supply a demand then you don't have a business case.

Well then get crackin, as every art student photographer wants to shoot huge wet plate.

Wet plate may outlive film and paper.
