Using Screen Cezanne FT S-5000 with SCSI-FireWire or USB-SCSI adapters

    Hello everyone!
I'd like to ask if anybody has experience using your Screen Cezanne FT S-5000 with a SCSI to FireWire or USB to SCSI adapter such as Ratoc, Iomega etc. with modern Power Mac G5 or Intel Macs?? The latest update of software from Screen for Cezanne is 2.0.8 and it works only on Mac OS X 10.6. Snow Leopard As far as I know "Snow Leopard" could run only with Intel processors, so SCSI card is not compatible with newer Mac systems. Any input will be appreciated.

    Hi Russ:
First, I'm a Cezanne newbie, literally just got my FT-S5000 running today. This is all based on what I read up on the internet but it does work, at least my first high rez scan just finished now: My setup is Mac Mini (Model MC270LL/A (June, 2010) - any later and its a no go), OS X 10.6.8 (no higher or it won't work for the FT-S5000, this is the max for my Mac Mini as well), Color Genius 2.0.8, Firmware updated to 2.12.j (came as part of the upgrade to 2.0.8 but had to be separately done), SCSI to Firewire adapter FR1SX (http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/FR1SX.html) and a SCSI 1 to SCSI 2 adapter plug to go from scanner to Firewire adapter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Key page at Screen is: http://www.screen.co.jp/ga_dtp/en/download/ for downloading the update software if you aren't starting with 2.0.8
Key reference for how to use the software (I don't have a manual because the CD-ROM soft-manual I got with the scanner is so old it won't open without classic!): http://peterdesmidt.com/blog/?p=361 (Thank you Peter!)

    Good luck and happy scanning!

Angus, I'm glad that you got everything working!

I'm amazed I did. That the scanner wasn't damaged in transit etc. your blog post was invaluable in getting it to work. Thank you.
