    If I like Avedon, Roversi and Vermeer who else could I look at?

    Just mentioned Vermeer for lighting and composition but I'm generally interested in photographers.

    Of modern folks?

    lets look on the other side of the pond, shall we..
    Zosia Zija (digital, MF), Josef Koudelka (MF) , Josef Sudek (LF)

    and many others. Of more glamourous - Penn, Horst P Horst, C Bull and many others.

    Avedon and Roversi are quite different (other than both shooting fashion at some point), so you might want to put a bit more of aim there.
