Great thread and images. After reading through it yesterday I headed over for a late-afternoon doctor's appointment and saw an excellent image as I parked of a textured wall with a hose faucet casting it's shadow and the shadow of a nearby tree next to it. I shot a few images with my carry-around digital, but I hope to go back with a my 4x5 and get a good image to post.

I don't think I posted this one before. I have several over on the "Shadows" thread that are minimalistic too. The original is an 11x14 Flexicolor print made from a 4x5 Vericolor negative. The "scan" was made using a digital camera. Hope I'm not blaspheming the forum by using it, but it's a fast way to get these posted.

Rhythmically, this is a balanced composition: odd number of dots, all three pointing in no direction, still all pleasingly interspersed. The artist succeeds in avoiding monotony; partially by using various compensatory blacks and whites, and partially through the use of irony. I have to admit that had I seen this in real life, I would have been attracted to it almost like by a magnet, wanting to push it just a little, to see if disorder can be achieved. I think that the artist -- possibly subconsciously -- probes into this strange destructive appeal (which may also have subconscious roots). He taps into the prankish side of the viewers, testing them on the one hand, and providing with a visual outlet on the other.
