    Re: Brian Ellis

I'm planning another camping trip to Baraboo and was going to look him up... I had written to Brian in '12 and this was his response:

Hi Chris - Yes, we were in Central Oregon (Bend) for six years. We moved there from Florida, which I lived most of my life, after I retired. We loved it there but felt that as we get older we should be closer to family and my wife's son and grandchildren live in this area so we moved just a couple months ago. Baraboo is a nice town and the area is pretty but not as nice as Oregon for landscape photography (or if it is I haven't discovered it yet).

I remember Brian being one of the friendliest and most encouraging people when I first became involved with this community when I was about 15 years old. To hear of his passing is sad, but I am fortunate to have communicated with him, especially early on when I needed it most.

In addition to his photographic knowledge, Brian was a first class Tax Attorney. We discussed much more than just photography in our private e-mails. Brian's a fine man and will be missed by many. RIP my friend.

Brian was a very nice and thoughtful guy. I met him at a workshop back in 2005 maybe?

He always contributed in a positive way here, and while it appears he was very active, to me that was somewhat irrelevant. It was the quality and nature of what he said that was really valuable and reflected on who he was the best.

    Rest in peace Brian.

Read the Obit. Too bad we have to learn much more about someone AFTER their gone.

I wish I could read a Living Obituary on more folks here.
