    Help about old Dallmeyer lens...

    Hi everyone!
I recently bought an old wooden camera with a Dallmeyer lens that I am unable identify. I supouse it's a Dallmeyer "1b long" but I'm not sure about this. Full length is 122 milimeters and the barrel width is about 59 milimeters.
What do you think about it?
Thank you so much in advance for the info!

The 1B long is described as having a barrel width of 2 1/X"! Unfortunately, the reproduction is so bad I can't make out whether the "X" is a 2, 3, 5 etc.
I am quite sure this is a 1B Long.
It was still for sale in 1892 "for CDVs at 12 feet".
I think this is one of the models which was also made with or without the rear soft adjustment. But certainly in 1892 it was only offered as a plain Petzval - not the soft version
Looks a lot like the engraving used on Ross lenses with OA (ordinary angle) and Lg (Long angle) earlier.

I havn't seen one with this engraving before - regretably, we don't have access to the Dallmeyer Ledgers at the moment.

Does it have PATENT engraved there where Dallmeyer is engraved?

Thank you for your fast answer!
No Patent engraving and no rear soft adjustment
Only "J.H.Dallmeyer/28xxx/London" and near the barrel screw "I.B.Lg" or "I.B.Lc"

Same optical design as the usual Dallmeyer B series, but without the rear cell adjustment for soft focus.

But it is still 1B Long (1B LG).

Glad everyone is getting the info. Dallmeyer is one of the easier lens makers to research. Some of the reasons are they came late to optical lens manufacturing (relative to the other makers I like), they became preeminent with advertisements in many journals, and mostly because Sean Mackenna had the factory ledgers. He was a friend of mine, and I'm glad to have known him.

This lens was made for cdv size but mine is on a 1/4 plate camera. And yours?
