    Re: February 2014 Portraits

I shot my first ever sheets of large format film this weekend.

    Kodak T-Max 400
    Linhof Kardan Color 8x10
    Schneider symmar 300mm 5.6
    stopped down to f8

At the lab they asked me if I had flown with the film because of the stripes. They thought they might be x-ray damage. It sounded plausible to me and it made me a bit sad because it probably means all my sheets are ruined.

So did you fly with the film, and if so, was it in the checked luggage or carry-on?

The film was flown from the US to Sweden by someone other than me so I don't know how it was handled on the flight. I don't think this person is aware that xrays damage film and it didn't cross my mind either. Oh well, not much else to do than order new ones. It was "only" 20 sheets but still. I'm really liking the large format experience so far anyway

Okay, just wondering. Conventional wisdom is that carryon baggage gets only a low dose of radiation, whereas checked luggage gets the high dose, so wanted to see if this could be correlated to the checked luggage problem.

I really like what you did though - your models are like night and day...
