Ah nuts, I was hoping for Columbus, Ohio or York, Pa. Hope it goes well, though.
Well I'll be dipped!
The last time something important happened here, Abe Lincoln came to meet with Samuel Bowles to begin the Republican Party. This is one of those places whose past is much more interesting than its present. (See the photographs under An Old Man's Rant)
Home to the Basketball Hall of Fame, Spalding Sporting Goods, Smith & Wesson, Milton Bradley and the Springfield Armory which was set up by George Washington and the maker of the M1 and Springfield rifles.
The first automobile was produced here, the first fire truck and the GeeBee airplane.
Anyone needing travel advice may e-mail me with questions.
O.K. John, you lucked out.
I know where Boston, Mass. is located, but where the heck is Springfield located, in relation to Boston? Would I need to fly into Boston and change planes? Rent a car and drive from Boston to Springfield? Do any of the major airlines fly directly into Springfield?
Inquiring minds want to know.
The closest and most convenient airport is Hartford, CT. I am told a cab ride to Springeld is about $30.00.
Springfield is west of Boston about 100 miles and just about due north of Hartford, CT.
It is possible to take a train to Springfield from most places on the East Coast.

Thanks for the info., Steve. You placed your initial announcement of the conference location on this forum, but, as yet, not on your own forum. Was there a reason for that?
We wll get it on our forum later today (Friday).

A more current significant event in Springfield was the manufacture of the first Indian Motorcycle..... 1902. If you don't visit the Indian Motorcycle Museum while you're visiting, Arnold will call you a [non-political] girlieboy.
I don't think the Indian Motocycle Museum has been open for a few years, since the death of Charles Lewis. It is located on the property of the Charles C. Lewis Co.. I am going to try and arrange an exhibit of LF photographs at the Valley Photo Center during the conference. Steve what facility in Springfield will the conference be held?
Marriott Hotel
