    Hi All,

I would like to beg your forgiveness for this posting, when compared to the extraordinary work everyone else has posted. BUT, this is a portrait, and, more importantly, it is my first ever LF shot, so I've very pleased about it (actually I took four photographs, two didn't come out because the film wasn't in the holders correctly, and the other one I didn't like as much). I also developed it myself - using the taco method - you can just see the dark line in the left of the picture where the developer can't have covered the film enough.

I did all this just from reading the wealth of information on this site - so I want to say a big "Thank You" to everyone here.

Although this was entirely self taught, I am going to get lessons on how to do this properly this weekend ;-)

    .

Don't you have a bunch of Polaroid color films in your fridge?

And wow a non-"arty" image from you, pretty much fantastic, how did you get her to make that smirk, it's perfect

And why don't you have a any color film?

Love this shot by the way.

Is that a "perfect" emulsion issue, or is he really missing his nose?

    January 2014 Portraits

Aunt Bea (Beatrice) 94 years young.

    TOYO45a, Fujinon 300mm C f/8.5, TMY-2 in GRAFLEX septum #3, Rodinal 1:50

F/11 @ 1 Second, slight front tilt to get the front tree branches to line up with her face.

She was tired but reluctantly agreed to sit for me, she's only 4'8" so watch out!

EDIT: it's not supposed to be purple, must be some issue with my phone uploading to the site... (Grumbles)

He lost his nose to cancer. Very nice and friendly man.

    Cheers,
That is, in some ways, a rather disturbing image. In other ways, though, it is quite nice to see. I once knew a man who had his nose amputated due to cancer. He became a recluse and didn't want to be seen... even with a prosthetic nose. It is sad to see this man's condition, yet quite nice to see that he seems to be dealing with it better than most could.

He is very upbeat and has a positive outlook in life. He invited me to his home and was so kind and welcoming. I will come back to do more portraits as he completes his plastic surgeries.
