    Actually that's not entirely true. The IQSmart scanners use something called XY Stiching that scan the original in bands and then automatically stitches the scan together, so you can get the same resolution scanning an 11x14 as a 35mm.     For the iQsmart1 it IS true. Only the iQsmart2 and 3 do what you are talking about.
