It's not fancy, off the shelf parts and the wooden framework is made for each camera type. Here are the basic parts I used to make it. John this solenoid is not strong enough to trigger my 500C/M. That camera takes a lot of force. I'm thinking I could make the solenoid push a cable release attached to the 500C/M that had some mechanical advantage applied and maybe get a stronger solenoid if needed. There is not much space between the shutter button and camera lens for the solenoid anyway on a 500C/M.

The solenoid could only trigger the Pentax when I reduced the area of contact to increase the force by installing a thumb screw insert shown here from a cable release I had.

Very clever and nicely executed. Maybe for the 500C/M a larger solenoid could push through a cable release, not directly on the camera's shutter release.

Thanks, Tuco, that's smart. I have one of those old wind-up mechanical releases, but it's super fiddly, imprecise, and fails to trip the shutter about the half the time. I don't understand why self-timers are so rare on even relatively modern medium format cameras.

Sure. I'd note the solenoid in the picture had no problems with the M9 without any help.

I still have one of those windup mechanical shutter timers too. And I agree why wouldn't they just make that built into in the camera.

Here's another Noblex shot. I shot this last October, the first shot on a roll of film, and then I just wasn't using the Noblex so never finished the roll. Glad to finally know what that one image was that's been waiting for so long .
