Snay: I tried to stop myself from liking your two shack photographs, because old shacks are the kind of cliches that attract us LF types, but I can't - they are really well done! I particularly like the first, simple geometric shape, nice handling of sky and clouds. Red filter, or is that just the intensity of light at altitude?

I used an Orange Filter. There are so many of them where I live at and after passing them on a daily basis for over two years now I figured I would take a couple of photos. The real reason I took them wasn't so much because I wanted shack photos, I was testing out a light seal fix I did on my RZ67. They came out better than I thought they would. There are hundreds of these shacks floating around where I live.

I hear it smells real bad now close to Salton Sea.

I almost settled in North Shore Ca in 1975, so glad I did not.

I camped a lot in the 70's, winters only, in the White Mt Gunnery Range, but never the Slabs.

You can start smelling it about 200 feet away I guess. I don't notice the smell any further away. The day I went to take these I stopped by the Salton Sea Visitor Center and Campground to show my parents and there was about 50 people right up on the beach having a party of some sort. I don't know how they could handle it.
