RRS lists a plate for 4x5, but they don't mention the Tachi in their descipition. They mention the wooden Wista cameras and a couple others, as I recall. At any rate, the RRS plate works great on my Tachi.
I use a P-50 plate from Wimberley on my Tachihara. The plate is almost as long as the length of the camera base. I find this mini-rail particularly useful when shooting macros in the field. Long plates from the other manufacturers (RRS, Kirk) should also suffice. Try to get a plate with two screws/bolts for a stronger connection, and so that the plate cannot twist.
Thanks for the information.
If your camera has two tripod holes for screws, the Really Right Stuff B-35 should work fine. The plate has two 1/4-20 screws, with one being laterally adjustable. If your camera, like my Wisner Expedition, has one 1/4-20 hole and one 3/8-16 hole, RRS sells a reducing bushing so the plate will work with this setup.
