This reminds me of a late friend who succumbed to cancer last year and was a lauded local bike mechanic with customers up and down the west coast. He made his own bike snow/ice worthy by using old tires. He unmounted the tires, placed screws through them from inside, installed a phenolic (?) strip over the screw heads to protect the inner tube. He'd leave a rooster tail behind him with that thing. Don't know if it would handle mud, never witnessed that.
My first car was also a Bug, in my case a '65. I sold it for $750 and bought a '71 Fiat Sport Spider. The Fiat was fun but a pile of junk. Really regret selling my Dub now.
My "photo car" now is a Ford Windstar minivan and I love it. I have considered mounting a platform on the roof ala Ansel to get my camera just a bit higher.
Mine is a 2011 RAV4. I can sleep in it, and do mild off-roading. Oh, it has an awesome V6.Originally Posted by Tebbiebear
Mine is a 2013 Honda Pilot. Love it! It damn near gets the mpg 's as my 2000 CRV that really lacked room on vacations. I typically take three camera kits and the CRV left little room for the wife's "stuff."
Usual Ride. 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
1996 1997 2001 2006... each started in the 68-100K range and were traded at the 194,000 to 200+K region.
the 06 is only mid life for me 168000 or so.
