For those reading this thread who also have heavy cameras I suggest you look for Union Brothers monostands. They were made (I believe) in Las Vegas. I bought one used. The damn thing is made of steel and cast iron and takes two strong men to lift. I could probably use it to pull an engine out of a truck so doubt if a 60 pound camera would bother it.

Another quality monostand is available from Cambo.

Can't find those stands. I have a couple ArKay and they are good to about 25 lbs, The Deardorff Bi-Post I just setup works great.

Perhaps consider a whole different approach.
    Lift Tables.
    Some are less than $400.

    Jac,

I did consider those. We used them in factory for many things. But they are not as flexible in positioning as Deardorff Bi-Post. They are also ugly in comparison. I am very happy to have a Bi-Post. They are wonderful devices.

Some say, all that wanted a Bi-Post and SC11 got one during the 'Big selloff' of the the Chicago studio's, but I do wonder where they all are. I know of the location of 3 in Chicago and Harold's.
