    HP DreamColor LP2480zx -- Comments?

    Hello,

I've been very pleased with the Dreamcolor display on my new HP 8570w laptop so am thinking of getting hold of one of HPs LP2480zx monitors:

HP DreamColor LP2480zx Professional Monitor (GV546A4) Manuals

The monitor will be used for image editing and pre-press with Photoshop &c.. Has anyone here had experience with one? On paper they look to be just the thing -- together with the calibrator -- but it would be helpful to know what they are actually like to work with.

    Best, Richard

Re: HP DreamColor LP2480zx -- Comments?

Here's a review we did of the HP2480 back in 2008 when they first came out. At that time, it was ahead of its time in many ways, has a wide gamut, the backlighting can be changed to any color of white you want. The big issue to watch out for at that time was the uniformity. This display had obvious areas where one section of the screen was a different color compared to another corner. Our test showed the uniformity to be off by as much as 6 delta E in some cases. (By comparison, Eizo's and NEC's are usually around dE 3 or so.)

Obviously this is a very old review, and some of what I have heard more recently suggests that they have improved their uniformity - but that is something that I'd want to check carefully.
