    glass globes

I'm interested in getting glass globes such as Clarence H White used.

I'm not sure how to get something like what was used. I don't want a gazing ball, as they are heinously decorated. There are antique glass balls used for flotation buoys but they are too small. Most light fixture globes have huge holes built into them to fit over the lightbulb. That could be OK in a few situations if held right and not too close to the camera. I'm not into general antiquing, so perhaps the balls have a name I could use for better searching. Thanks!

Interesting, never knew such a thing existed.
The hole is very small in the links you posted, might be worth it to look
into local glass blowers or places that teach glass blowing, you might be
able to get one or two made to size that might cost less than looking for a vintage one.

EvH; 80mm isn't very big and it appears to be solid glass.

If I can't find anything, I suppose I could have one made, but I wanted to check and see what our consumerism oriented Internet has for cheap and easy.

"Clear glass garden gazing balls" comes up with 10-inch balls. There are ones which are clear, but with distortions. I didn't search too hard, so there may be balls which are large, smooth and clear.

Google "clear glass fishing floats". Here is a 9" one to get you started:
