Alex, fantastic :-)
What do you do when a theatre troupe is performing an Oscar Wilde play based in 1913? Why you offer to do the promotion images in wet-plate collodion of course!
On Tuesday, September 3rd we gathered the cast of the upcoming performance on a beautiful property built in 1911 in full costume on a 100 degree day and make plates. With the assistance of Randy Estudillo we made 8x10 tintype portraits of 5 actors and two group images for use in the promotional materials for the play. It was a super busy day with temperatures near 100 degrees outside and likely 110+ in the tent where we processed the plates. I'd like to say that everything went perfectly, but unfortunately the temperatures negatively affected our chemicals and made the day quite the challenge. In the end, however, we were able to get what we needed.
There are a few amazing things about this shoot. First, that a university would allow a full-day with actors, stylists and assistants to do a shoot this big to get something that they didn't completely understand. Second, the young actors were incredibly supportive, patient and involved in every step of the day. They learned a lot and were so excited about the plates. We have a whole new group of young people who now appreciate a historic process and to me that is super cool.
A HUGE thanks to Randy for his patience and hard work with me on this. A shoot this big wouldn't be possible without him.

Cool stuff
A job well done Tim. I can see you both put in a lot of work . Congrats to you and Randy.
Randy, we will get you and your wife tickets. Thanks for the help!
Thanks Mark!
I will admit, it was a loooooong day with a lot of planning beforehand. The photographs have already started a lot of buzz and that should be great for ticket sales, which is exactly what we are after.
