Sergei, this is very cool. Love the Tea atmosphere.
What do you mean by oddly mixed?
I have a bottle of collodion from various sessions from May to October. That was filtered from a pour off bottle and is now ready again :-)
Still very usable, but I'm deciding if I should mix it with fresh or just go for it.

thanks.. It did behave odd other day with all those strange ghostly bits.. I spilled a bit too much of collodion when i was mixing, so i added salts amount judged by eye, so i am sure mixture is off on proportions Makes up for interesting result though.

I need to figure out where to get 1.5L or larger glass jar to do silver maintenance sometime this week Have not done it yet. How do you filter it?

    Sergei,
Right now I use two separate 1L bottles, but I just noticed they sell these now. A bit pricey.

Some places carry those large glass storage jars for doing your own canning of vegetables etc.. I may look into them.

Will someone with far more experience than myself using wet plate collodion please explain why the majority of photos here do not have the fine details you have in this example that I have been told was wet plate. http://imgur.com/a/wj60p It is from the book "City of Shadows". I find each picture to have a lifelike quality and have been trying to understand what variable or technique was used to achieve such a high degree of fine details.

I enjoy looking at everyone's wet plates here, but am curious why they may not have this fine detail. Thank you

I suspect those are gelatin dry plates. Generally, much faster than wetplates.

SergeiR, my comment on your Amazon listing was deleted as 'rude'. I apologize for my rudeness and it was entirely unintentional. I hope you understand.

    Thank you.

I suspect the shallow depth of field and subject motion during a long exposure may be the culprits. Also, we post rather small scans as a rule, which can make the sharpest images look a bit fuzzy. But well-made wet plates have very fine detail, at least as much as a good contact print.
