355 has little room for movement, while the 450 has more and the 610 has plenty. I have a 30" RD Artar that I would like to get mounted in...
I think the peculiarities is really dependant on what you are shooting. When I first got into 7x17 I was after the big vista, and was on a search for wider and wider lenses. What I found as I shot...
My basic 7x17 kit consists of a 355 G Claron, 450 Nikkor M and a 24" RD Artar (aluminum). This kit works for 7x17 and 12x20.
I can then suplement (depending on where I am going) one or more of 3...

I use the Jobo system for 12x20 and 7x17.
As described.... the insert is a clear plastic sheet, with bumps and then little buttons on top of the bumps. The pattern of the bumps/buttons surrounds...
The Lee Filter and Wide shade system.
I would use a step up ring ont he front of each lens so that you use a wider Lee Adaptor. This will reduce the likelihood of vignetting. When I bought my 355...
Arthur,

As a user of Keith Canham's cameras, including a 12x20 and 7x17 (same as Clay) - I would recommend a Canham whole heartedly.

As the folks above have stated... this is a nice size. Large enough for contacts and the camera is smaller and more portable then an 8x10. Since you are likely to contact print - many good coverage...
A 90mm Super Angulon XL (the big one) just covers 4x10 if you want to go real wide.

Kodak Dental Film clips are great for hanging film to dry. They are used to hold x-ray films.
Only one point of contact and it is very easy to place this in one corner of the film where you only...

Sandy,
I shoot many formats, and someother 'odd size' formats (7x11, 5x12 and 6.5x8.5) - but since you asked about ULF here goes...
7x17 210/f9 Computar (covers with slight movement) ...
Another option is to purchase Kodak Dental Clips. These are small clips that leave (only) one small impression in the film. This clip can be put in a corner where there is not image and the the small...
