One more thumbs up for Paul's systems.
I've been using his K5 formulation (5 shades of black + LM and LLC) in a 7600 for over 10 years. Printed literally hundreds of 24x30, and sold quite a few.

Hopefully your issue is solved. For future reference you might want to take a look at the epson wide format yahoo group. Lots of knowledge about this stuff.

One of the great of contemporary photography, and a personal inspiration for many years, Gabriele Basilico passed away today in his native city of Milan.

Welcome to the world of digital color negs. If you're using a CPP with fresh C41 chemistry your development is probably fine. It's just the nature of color negs where the colors are inverted and...
I'm using a variation on Paul Roark's 4k+ inkset. He developed this a few years ago but you can still find detailed info on his website. It's mostly MIS inks except for the LM which is epson. I've...
It all depends what ink you use. There's nothing magic about epson inks. In fact there're several third party sources of ink out there and, at least the best ones, provide you with a product that is...

I used something similar myself and it works just fine.

As said if it's cheap and in good shape it may be worth it. It's still a capable machine especially if you turn it into a B&W only printer with Cone inks or Ebony-6 from MIS.
I thought the only tanks that fits the 1000/1500 ATLs are the 2553 and 2523?
I only use matte papers and I've tried many. Still my favs remain Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and Moab Entrada Natural. The first one for color work the second for b&w. The added benefit of Entrada is the...
At what temp?
Thx.

I Agree. I would also add that it's substantially cheaper than many of the other previously listed.
Ultimately, don't forget that once a print is framed and under glass you'll most likely not be...
Then you should get yourself on the http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/ list. Tons of valuable info on this subject.

I've been using one of these guys for years now. It's so good that most of the time the pentax sits at home. The modern replacement for those mercury batteries is the Wein Cell MRB625. Easily...
Someone at the massive dev chart has posted 19 min at 20c, so 15 min at 22c with this type of agitation seems close enough. Although a second entry in the same chart indicates 10 min at 21c. Oh well!...
First time using this film. Anyone out there got some ballpark dev times to get me started for this film/developer combo?
Many thx.

Just run into a box of HP5 and I need some ball park development times for pyrocat HD. I've developed a lot of FP4 in pyrocat 1-1-100 and rotary processing but never any HP5 and the numbers at the...

You will get more help if you post this at the epson wide format group.

Lots of people there using this machine.

If they were more decently priced the Imacons would be a good alternative.
Walter
Agreed, both the 100 and the 200.
Been rolling them in an expert drum in Pyrocat HD and was having all sort of uneven dev issues when none of the Ilford stuff was giving me trouble. Had to resort...
Never used Lyson or Permajet but my 7600 is currently loaded with MIS inks. No problems at all. The bucks I save goes the way of good paper, no way around that unfortunately.
Matte Vs Pearl/Gloss paper? Personally I much prefer matte with inkjet output, I think the new photo like surfaces need a little more development to reach the standards of a good matte paper. The...
Presoak: 5min in 700 ml water.
Wash: in a gravity works tank for 5 mins after 3-4 1min water exchange in the tank itself.
The problem with not enough solution is that before your worry that...
I use this combo all the time. Arista 100 (rated at 64) in pyrocat 1:1:100. 700ml of solution @20 degrees for 7:30 - 8:00 mins. This in a jobo 3010 rolled over a unicolor base which has been set to...
For the photoshop savvies here, what's a good user group/forum out there for photoshop specific q/a and discussions?
Thx

Never tried myself but for what I heard is it's not a problem of not looking good. Matte Black on glossy/semigloss paper supposedly does not stick well enough. Even after it's dried, passing your...
The 4 volumes of "The Work of Atget" by Szarkowski and Hambourg. If only one allowed then I would have to pick volume 3 "The Ancien Regime".
Do a search on this topic. You'll find a couple of recent threads where the option of scanning the negative as a 3f file (native flexcolor) is discussed. That's the workflow that I and others on this...
Yep, TVO showed episode 1 last night. Better than expected.
Tim you get TVO out west?
Walter
Definitely a bit overdone for my taste.
- Answering my own question here - Forwarded this issue to Imacon tech support and they confirmed that yes, 3F files are portable across platforms (which makes sense really since they appear to be...
The Imacon I rent time on runs on a MAC. I have the latest release of Flexcolor running on a PC. If I save the scan as a 3F file will I be able to open it on my PC? In other words are 3F files...
I thought that you needed to be registered with Hasselblad to be able to download stuff from their site?
I've been using this for a while along with the 200 version. Develop in Pyrocat HC in a Jobo drum and rate it @ about 64 (the 200 I rate @ 100). In my experience I did notice though that it's a bit...
I'm in Canada also, used to buy from them all the time but lately the shipping fees have gone through the roof. Gotta start looking for a better source.
OK that's what I thought, thx Doug. I was not sure that the scanner would take the film when loaded off center. Now I just hope they have the 6x12 holder.
Good point about scratching the film...
I do most of my scanning on a imacon 848 that I rent locally. In most cases the 2040 max res for 4x5 is ok for the 24x30 prints. But I do have a couple of shots that I need to print larger than that....
Been using HPR 308 for most of my work. Got to like it unfortunately. I say unfortunately since rumor has it that Hahnemuhle is yet again raising prices. As if they weren't expensive enough. Time to...
