What is the the coverage of a Sinaron S 300mm ? Is this lens the same as Sironar S 300mm ?

Is it possible to remove (without damage) the focussing hood from a Tech III ? I prefer a dark cloth and I find the hood difficult to use when using a loupe to focus.
