Re: Transparency scaning - why emulsion side up?

I've been a Photo Lab Rat for almost 50 years now. And it really bugs me when I've had to scan film flipped instead of emulsion-side-to-lens.

The bloody scanner needs to read the emulsion not the...

We got a 9000 but I don't recall "rotating film holder".

Scanning is based on the assumption that you are doing original 'chromes.

Re: Theoretical digital sensor equivalent to 8x10?

In another forum some one asked "What would you like the next Nikon DSLR to have". And I replied a full frame 50 MP sensor with Tru RGB.

Wishful thinking perhaps - but does anyone really know...

Re: Theoretical digital sensor equivalent to 8x10?

I saw pixelization in a print only once - in a demo of the Kodak Profesional Photo-CD system (in 1996?). We made a 4x6 image into a print that was 10" wide by (whatever) high. And brother were those...

    We have a 7600 and a 9900.

7600 is directly on the network - the print queue will slooow downnn your printtinggg.

The 4400 is a USB connection on a workstation with a RIP. PITA to setup the...

Re: Help me with choosing a scanner

I would be most grateful to see your workflow. The Flexcolor software has a LOT of choices in it and I'm not at all convinced I'm using them at their best settings.

    Re: Imacon Scan Problem

    Our X5 came back.

I was told the $1k repair was paid.

A careful look at the case did not find any damage and/or repair. (Hasselblad Service claimed it was damaged in shipping.)

Re: Theoretical digital sensor equivalent to 8x10?

I think the only answer that will satisfy this question would be 1 sensor = 1 silver grain.

The math makes my head hurt:)

When the "mavens" accomplish this, I'll be happy.

    Re: Imacon Scan Problem

If you go to the Yahoo group you may see my posts. Service on Imacon scanners (we have an X5 AND a service contract(!)) by Hasselblad, for us (YRMV), has been less than optimal.
