How come Jorge is not on this :-))
It is good to know that good o’l Jorge is still alive and kicking. I missed you :-)) and I mean it!
Good, fun fight. I still think the paper is more or less “immaterial”, unless it is junk. ...
If it is Art, one knows it is, and when it isn’t one knows that also. Of course, there are the Kinkade disciples…brrrrrrrrrr.
Buy a small plastic scale from stationery/art store and shave it to fit. That is what I had done.
"I shoot Velvia 50 (40) almost exclusively, and it has terrible reciprocity charictaristics. One of these days I'm going to spring for some magenta gels, until then I'll just keep my exposures under...
Jokes aside, yes I feel too that it has been windier in the last few years not to mention the Death of Light (for color photographers). The so called Golden Hours of the afternoon turned into a...
It seems like we are more and more desperate for new subjects for discussion. Not that anything is wrong with having fun :-))
I went as far as 30 minutes on Velvia with no ill effects. Of course some filtration might be needed after the sun goes down so a color meter or experience could help.
Sickly green in my...
Mike, I guess your heart/mind is in the right place. I do think along similar lines you do…. at least I hope. Cheers!
Now, here is the Troll :-))
Photography is a beautiful hobby or a craft (you decide) and one should not be ashamed to admit that through its many mechanical components it still can produce...
Edward (Halifax, NS) made a quite succinct point. To add mine; There is no art in photography. Some try very hard to sell their ware as art, but art it is ain’t.
Browsing through the...
I’m curious the quality of the Shen Hao Shade. If the distance between the screws is the same as the Linhof attachment points then the screws could be swapped for the Linhof pins. I was just...
“I wouldn't be able to consider the product a true fine print , but merely a reproduction”.
What is the difference? Not much in my opinion. All prints are reproduction in some sense!
For God’s sake! What is the telephone is for? Just call him to find out that you were wrong!
Then don’t forget to apologize here.
B&H used to have some quite good new generic Linhof boards for around $35.00. I think it was from Bromwell.
What is an "anti-Scheimpflug correction"?
That is what photographers do who dislike poor Mr. Scheimpflug :-))
When does the auction start? We don’t want to miss it!
Can we all advertise (whatever that is) here or only the "Special People" can? What a joke!
Thanks Bob,
I’ll definitely check with you in three months. I am very happy with my Color LightJets, but not with the Monochrome ones. I’ll have to do some experiments I guess!
Thanks John,
Oh, I know that the tints are intentional, but somehow I don’t like the neutral look of Fuji Archive in B&W…it looks funny. Now I understand the hesitance on loading F.B. paper.
...
Has any of you seen B&W LightJet prints made on Fiber Based paper?
I’ve seen LightJets on the Fuji Archive color substrate with various kinds of tints, but I wonder how the same would look on...
Just for the record;
PPI = Pixel per inch for scans and video display
DPI = Dot per inch for printers
Thanks Jorge,
Those are sumptuous images! See!?! Technique/method is somewhat secondary to the Image – It is the photographer mostly :-))
Bravo James for taking a stand!
Sorry Michael, Fatali does use digital and most if not all his prints are done by someone else! Perhaps in the past he made all of them himself, but not lately. Of course he does not talk about...
“dont get your feathers ruffled”
No, I’m easy :-)) Merry Christmas!!
G.
Very nice copies of other photographers’ work! That might be part of the “glow”!
Jay, What I was trying to say is that I want to be able write the corrected digital file back onto film so it would be kinda safe. I realize that there are film recorders that do that today, but...
I don’t have to recopy my negatives every 2 or 3 years to make sure they have not lost information. Not something to sneer about if you are taking a lot of pictures. Even if you are scanning...
Geoffrey, been taking pictures...something you should be doing..:-)
What makes you think I don’t? That is why I am not on the computer too often. Lucky for some though :-))
Just to add to Julio’s thoughts this is what I said earlier;
“Why are ya’ll so surprised that someone living today can be as good or better than a Master of the Past? Hmmm? ”
It is amusing...
Where is Jorge?
Why are ya’ll so surprised that someone living today can be as good or better than a Master of the Past? Hmmm?
Now you are really going down the scale by mentioning Michael Smith’s fame as an (?)artist(?) which is dubious at best.
The key is ad naseaum here (re. AA). One shouldn’t be an ostrich with his...
Sorry, I meant to say that he is definitely not the Alpha and Omega of photography. There are many others!
I find this hang up on Ansel Adam quite ridiculous. It seems like reading some of you, that he is the ONLY photographer past and present. Yes, he had had an important role in photography once,...
“Digital tools and processes are not inherently inferior to chemistry based media and processes. At best that is a romantic nostalgic notion. ”
Luckily it wasn’t me who said this to upset Jorge...
Jorge
You are one lost puppy!…sometimes :-))
“everytime you post on this threads you say we all will be using PS in the future”
No, I am not saying that, nor should that be the case. ...
“Funny Geoffrey, when comparisson like this come up, you ask me to "let it slide" yet here you are as frequently as me voicing your opinion in favor of digital. ”
Jorge, it seems like you have a...
Some would ride horses only even today as a personal choice, and that is fine as well. Still it is hard to know what someone else would do when we do change our minds often. Never say never! Who...
