Those shutters are very simple mechanic, there is no gears at all inside. Just a lever and a spring, plus a few screws. They are more like a Packard and definitely not as complicated as a compur......
Thank you for your advices.
Here is a picture of the most damaged of the 3 shutters. Keep in mind that the hole is 85mm wide... The blades are fairly larges and that makes it easier to repair......
Hi there
I have 3 very old shutters to service. They are front mount leaf shutters with 3 "speed" : B,T and Instant.
First is a "RAAGO" (unknown brand to me) for 60mm front lens diameter, second...

For the moment i'm building a lens board adapter and bellow frames, the 8x10 back is my next project. I'll come back here to share it when it's done... After a few month...
I was more specifically asking for technical drawing if anybody has that.
6,6mm +/- 0,4mm is the value I found for "T" and this is the most critical of all. I have at hand a 8x10 holder and it will...

I'm sticking to my project of building one because in my place (France) old 8x10 back are rare and expensive... Plus this will be a rehearsal before building a modern...
Between 1/30 and 1/50 it's not even a stop... Minus spring un-accuracy and tolerance, plus film dynamic range... No wonder they look exactly the same.
I don't know your shutter but I recently...
Hi there
I'm planing to build a reducing back for a old 10x12 wooden camera.
I know what are the critical measures to respect for the film to be in the plan of focus but before drawing the whole...
I first tried the hammer technique but it did nothing and I was a bit worried to damage anything.
It finnaly came loose with some penetrating oil, patience and a pair of heavy-duty rubber gloves......
Excellent !
Thank you for those tips, I'll give it a try...
All the penetrating oils brands you mention are unknown to me (except wd40) as I'm in France, but we have equivalent.
But first I...
Hello everyone
I just bought a 12x10 Dallmeyer Rapid-Rectilinear. By it's serial number I can tell It is from 1883... So a good 140 years old.
It is in very good shape except it is really dirty...
You can build a basic tester for a few bucks with an arduino Nano and a photocell.
Some instructions are here :...
Oh Oh that is a serious piece of information...
Maybe the camera once was to a shop for a repair and they wrote on it the return adress ?
Anyway, I had confirmation by a professional camera...
Thank you for your feedback.
I am in France and large film or plate holders are quite rare (specially in good shape) so finding the good size with insert etc etc may prove impossible or too...

I don't need a new 150mm... I just happen to have one in a drawer so why not give it a try ?
There is plenty of very cheap folding 6x9 in reasonably good condition with...

Hi there
I did some testing with the color drums I bought...(Symma-Color)
With the small one for processing two 13x18 everithing was fine. Good result and even development.
But when I tried the...
I don't pretend having everything figured out, I just say that based on my experience of darkroom printing (that started 20+ years ago) one-shot fixer is not the only way to do.
Your process suit...
This look neat ! It would be super easy to adapt it for 13x18 by tweaking the lenght of the central pipe...
I think I'll try to copy it and print one myself...
But for now I found 2 Simma-color...
This is interesting. I would really like to have your feedback on this 3d printed reels once you tested it.
I'm sure the JOBO work great, but the price is insane...
Working stock of course
I use ADOFIX Plus and manufacturer recommandation are 20 films at 1+4 or 15 at 1+7 dilution per litre.
Given that one 36-exposure-135mm film = one 120 = four 4x5 = two 5x7 (roughly) it is reasonable...

I don't have a light-tight room at home and tray processing is not an option for me. Till now I...
Frankenstein 200 is repackaged FOMA 200, better shot at iso 100.
You can very easily process it in Rodinal (or rodinal clone like Adonal or Fomadon R09) + traditional fixing. This is easy and SUPER...

The SCX weight a ton... I sold it and kept the SC. Much much lighter and easier to setup.
But both are highly unusable in the field. Or very close to the car ...

I know what a Fresnel is, thank you.
But here we are talking about ground-glass I think... And a GG is, as the name sugest, a piece of glass with a grinded side...
I have not tested it myself but here in France there is a guy who sell hand-polished custom made gound glasses... He seems to have a good reputation and they are quite cheap (40€ for a 8x10).
You...
