I'm sending the lens to Flutot's for a CLA. Unfortunately, there's a two month waiting list. Looks like I've got plenty of time to think about what camera to mount it on. So, what would be some...
Thanks, everybody!
@venchka: I'll keep you in mind about the boards. Not sure what camera I'll get to mount it on, so we'll see if I end up needing it or not.
I don't *think* they were stolen. They were in a large leather bag that had about two inches of dust on it. Everything in it dated from before fall of the Berlin Wall (the Super-Angulon board was...
No, gloating would be telling you what else was in bag. ;)
Last weekend, I was walking around the flea market when a friend pointed out a bag of camera equipment sitting on the ground in this guy's stand. I was looking at it when the vendor walked up & said...
Thanks again, everybody!
Thanks everyone! I believe one of the local camera stores has a used Graphic View. I'll have to go look at it a little closer.
Mainly I'm looking for movements. The Polaroid doesn't have any. I'm planning on doing a project where I'll be doing a lot of photographing of building & street corners. The Polaroid will probably...
I got started in LF recently when I had a Polaroid 110a converted to 4x5. While it's great to be able to give an old camera a new lease on life, I've found I'd like something a little more...
Manuals!? We don't kneed no steeking manuals! :D
Foma/Arista.EDU 200 looks great in Xtol. I give it 5:15 in my Unicolor rotary tube.

Now if they'll only make Time Zero.
Are you looking to use the 4x5 Fuji Instant? If so, the 550 will work as well Fuji's own PA-45. If you're wanting to use standard size Instant film, you'll need the 405.
I haven't had that much trouble with the 4x5 holder on my V700. Yes, it's flimsy, cheap, & won't hold the film entirely flat, but it's miles & miles better than the 120 holder.
Yes, Foma does produce a 200 & 400. I use the rebranded Foma 200 from Freestyle and it's good stuff.
Gave the Combi tank another whirl tonight with much better usage results.
I didn't do a complete inversion this time, only tipped the tank on it's end and back. No leaks! Also opened up the...
This last issue of View Camera was my first. It probably won't be my last. If this has been a online only mag, I probably wouldn't have bothered with it. I prefer to have a real paper & ink mag to...
And so have I! :D
I'd eBay it while there's still time to get a decent return on it.
Arthur, the back is made from wood. What type I couldn't tell you as I didn't do the work. And yes, the RF was swapped. It came from a Polaroid 900.
I just use my watch to time it. As for the temp, just check the weather online for your area and use that as an estimation.
What's your opinion of the Microtek's quality? I've heard horror stories about them being crappily built and not good quality at all. And apparently Microtek's customer support is the pits.
No, I did not receive the washers. That would explain the leak. Would I need a specific set from HP or could I buy some from my local hardware store?
Yes, I am twisting the connectors to open...
Thanks, Jon. I'll try that next time I dev.
I had the top drain screwed down as tight as it would go. Still leaked when I inverted it. Oh, well. Not a big deal.
Developed my first 4x5 negs tonight. Here's what I learned:
1) Completely read the instructions, no matter how obtuse they may be, before asking stupid questions.
2) Don't drain the dev from...
Work was done by a friend on another forum. Lens CLA'd by Carol Flutot (get well soon!). I'm enjoying shooting with it so far. Only issue has been the damn RF gets knocked out of alignment at the...
Get well soon, Carol!
You need the 550 for the Fuji film. Good luck finding one, as they're in high demand and going for crazy prices on ePrey.
I'm still new to this myself, but I don't believe any one else makes...
Something similar happened on nelsonfoto.com a few months ago.
These backs have going for INSANE prices since they Polaroid discontinuation announcement. Used 550 back regularly got for upwards of $200US on ePrey. If you find one cheaper than that, consider...
I've already got a tripod gathering dust that would look nice with a LF cam on it. Don't tempt me any further!!
Greetings everyone!
As soon as my converted Polaroid 110a arrives, I'll be dipping my feet into the LF world! Can't wait! Been shooting 35mm & 120 for years now, but this will be my first ever...
