Hello, I use the Sinar bino viewer on my Horseman LS.
Here's the deal: The Horseman viewer is connected to an adapter that snaps into the Horseman ground glass. If you happen to buy a used...
My suggestion would be a Sinar X.
But listen to me carefully.
I tried to plan out the same thing that you're attempting to do - purchase a 4x5 camera that will do anything and everything, film...
Well, it's back in stock. I was wrong. Ha!
It would probably say temporarily out of stock instead of discontinued, but I'm just guessing...
So, at B&H, it says 8x10 Ektar is discontinued... really?
I have a fridge full of chromes, but I'd like to have negative film available when I want it. What's next to go, 8x10 Portra? Sheesh. ...
Okay, I have kind of a specific question about the Sinar Reflex Viewer:
I'm wondering if the connector on the bottom of the Reflex Viewer that you would connect into the Sinar GG back, is made of...
Wrong. If I get it from B&H, the shipping is usually less than the sales tax I would have to pay, or shipping is free, with zero sales tax.
Since Calumet owned Penn Camera, people like me in the Virginia/DC/Maryland area have lost another camera store.
But let's face it guys, this area doesn't have any camera stores that are worth...
Glad the site is back up.
I'm also thankful for Google's cached pages. I was searching for advice on lenses, and although the site was down, I could still view the archives in Google's cache. ...
The wide-angle bellows 2 is the best. Buy it now! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sinar-5x4-Wide-Angle-Bag-Bellows-Type-2-455-46-/251232319076?pt=UK_Film_Cameras&hash=item3a7e9cf664
I have the regular...
Never used an F, but the standards are nice for using as bellows extensions or as a lens hood on an X, P, or P2.
I had a P, but sold it because I just didn't like the round rail system and it's...
No, don't choose another camera. Get the Sinar P and buy some used rails from ebay or a camera store. You can get black rails or silver rails. They will both work.
For an 8x10, I would use an...
I've been out of the large format world for a few months now, and I recently saw those new prices for the Fuji 8x10 film... Holy SH*T is right. Still cheaper than Kodak though.
But it made me...
Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of weird/overkill for photographers to be using Avenger scrims for still photography? I mean, that's motion picture stuff (and yes, it's super awesome too).
...
Hey Rick, us Virginians have what's supposed to be a really good lab, though I've never used it.
DodgeChrome (sounds like a car dealership):...
Doesn't matter what the lens' shutter is set to, because you're not using the shutter on the lens, you'll be using the electronic shutter in the DSLR. You just need the shutter to be open, and then...
Hi Dennis,
Was the Canon Horseman accessory attachment not available? That sucks.
If you do happen to get your hands on one, all you have to do is unscrew the two knobs that are on the side of...
A lot of Horseman "LX" cameras on eBay aren't actually "LX" versions, but other model versions. I wonder if you actually have an LX.
I have an "LS", which has base tilts and center tilts, and the...
Watch for some used extra long Horseman bellows. They will work on the Sinar.
That's my only complaint.
Otherwise, it's rock solid, and you can make long extensions work, but only with the addition of other accessories.
And you're right, there is a geared rail clamp, but...
Yeah, all the rails work together, even the silver and black!
The round rail system is the reason I got rid of the Sinar.
I HATE the round rail system, especially with long extensions.
...
Sinar is nice, but buying them used can be a bit tricky.
The one that I got had a real tight rear standard, which I like. You could not push the movements with your hand, only with the knobs.

Advertisements, billboards, magazines, websites, articles, etc.
This is what stock imagery is for. I never considered shooting "art" for stock. My stock images were very boring and...
Just wanted to add my experience:
I started shooting micro stock about 5 years ago. Actually, I started at Alamy, which was NOT a micro stock agency. I licensed my images as Rights Managed,...
The Cambo Master is an L-shaped monorail, and is probably a really nice, heavy duty camera.
However, if you're not going to get a Sinar, and you want an L-shaped monorail, I'd get the Horseman (I...
There are so many Sinar P cameras on eBay - some of them you should stay away from, and some of them would end up being pretty good deals.
I bought a rear standard, then a front standard...
But why would you shoot 20x24? All these big formats produce blurry images, and I'm not talking about camera shake...
At such a small aperture, with a lens that has such a huge image circle,...
Should've bought more E100G when it was $119, free shipping. That was in January... oh well, can't predict the future. :(
But honestly, who here doesn't like Provia? I think it has more...
I just don't see how Fuji would all of a sudden discontinue E-6 films...
Fuji sells the most E-6 in the US. I have three 20 sheet boxes of 8x10 Provia in the fridge. If someone can prove that...
Just the way I like it! :)
Although, it's been more Provia than E100G, but I've got both in the fridge.
Soon, I'll be cool like everyone else and switch to Portra 160.
Just read Tim Parkin's camera comparison, and then you'll really know what the difference between formats is.
This is the dumbest thread ever... and I STILL replied.
Your rear standard and bellows are so clean Danny. Mine look like I got them from a dumpster. :)
Can you show how the focusing works, and parts it's made from?
It reminds me of the Sinar repro :): http://www.innovafoto.com/index.php/noticias/sinar_repro
B+W is "cheap" in 8x10 if you really like the format, and don't care to shoot color.
25 sheets of Ilford Delta 100 for $90? That's 100 sheets for $360.
Meanwhile, I spend close to $900 for...
Looks fine to me man.
It does look like the red is reflecting onto the snow.
Color casts are so easy to fix in PS anyway. I wouldn't be worried at all, unless the whole image was covered in a...
Don't be afraid of chromes. They have more latitude/dynamic range than people on this forum would like you to believe. Provia and E100G is good stuff.
I'm a negative newbie myself... I love the chromes, especially Provia 100F, but I would like to snatch up some boxes of Portra 160 and try it out.
How would Provia 100F compare to the new Portra...
Holy moly! That's more than I can spend. Where'd you get the 8x10 Astia?
I personally don't flatbed scan anything, and don't own a flatbed. I just save the good ones for pro drum scanning, and I know that 4x5 chromes made with good lenses at "sharp" apertures, drum...
