I went as far as wrapping rubber sheet and using large slip joint pliers. Didn't budge.
Didn't know Grimes was still working! I'll look into it.
Thanks!

Hello again helpful LFs,
I'm sure only one or two recall my posts of a few months ago. I had to go through RT chemo, but I'm alive and back, albeit worse for wear and tear.
I'm going through my...
Indeed. Supposedly it's 1000' x 5"
I'll know when I get into it. From the same stash I grabbed 2 500' x 5" Technical Pan rolls, original seals intact. They should be fine ;+)
I'm very excited......
Thank you! From that link I was able to Google their wording and got a little more info. Seems it was quite popular with the military and NASA, back in the day.
It also appears to be very similar to...
Hello folks, I have run into a bunch of old Kodak stock and would like to find some information on it. It appears that the can is named panatomic x and also designates an emulsion number of 3412, but...
Great, thought so. I've just ordered the Norelco, the pc, and the hot shoe adapter. Thanks!
Hi guys n gals, I want to be able to use my flashes for studio and field portrait work…on my Pacemaker. Is it the classic Norelco/Philips AC power cord that has the correct end to fit the lens 2pole...
Jnantz, thank you! Between Alan, you, Daniel and the TC…this thread is turning into a goldmine of information on the subject!
I guess I’ll have to get some of that TD3 and add a side by side with...
The experiments await!
Thanks again for the anecdotes.
As for development, I’ll be using Pyrocat HD, semi stand…my fave.
Good tip about processing a frame for fog check. I wouldn’t have thought of...
Thanks Alan, for the comment and experience. I’ll find out soon. First, I’m just going to open the Kodak can (it’s a factory sealed black plastic tub so no light has gotten in there) and just cut off...
" it can be tricky if you don't have a jig set up. dont' forget film isn't really 4x5 inches it's a little smaller all around. you might get a handheld paper hole punch to give yourself a notch...
I just acquired a 500’ roll of Tech Pan. I’m very excited. Question is: has anyone here bought bulk (4x5) and cut it into sheets? Any problems you can warn me about? Any tips? Did it end up being...
Indeed. Thank you. It’s such an annoyance when there’re LF images to be captured!
Nice work!
I can’t even use tapatalk on my android. It keeps telling me I have the user/pass wrong. I’m signed in on my iPad so…not true. SMH
It does appear so. My uses will be landscape and portrait.
Thank you. I’m looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I’ve just started cancer treatment and won’t be back home for a while;(
I’ll post when I have something to post:)
Gotcha. I may as well get the Top hat. Might give me marginal swing movement as well as full coverage. (I’m modding the locking plates underneath the front standard)
Yes! Thank you. I now have an exploded view of my FPS mechanism, but no explanation of how it affects the shutter speeds. I already disassembled much of the area to tighten the tension on the curtain...
For use on my Speed Graphic 4x5. I need to buy a lens board, and have the option of standard (flat) or about 30mm extension “nose” on it. Thoughts?
Good morning to all! I am getting started on my LF project and need some help. I did basic light leak/focus/lens shutter testing on my new 1953 Pspeed the other day with some surprising results. The...
I snagged a clean (couple of minor blemishes off to the side on the front element) Buhl 9” f/2.5 for about $250 today. Came with RAF alloy lensboard. Happy enough for now:o
So now my brain is trying to sort out how that works. The diopters I’m used to are teeny things at the eyepiece on a dslr.
Do you have more info on this approach?
Yes well I’ve got 4 shutters and a focal plane shutter that are all slightly different. I want to know. Film and time are important. Plus, I’m shooting a lot of portraits, which are hard enough to...
Good idea, thanks
Thanks, I’ll look around.
I have recently gotten my hands on 3 lenses for my Speed, and also tightened up my focal plane shutter…and now need to test the speeds on them. The faster speeds usually hold up well (from what I...
Thank you all for the suggestions! I’m sure my answer is in there somewhere.
Any suggestions for lenses equivalent to the AE178? I’m looking for the fast/shallow dof stuff. I use a Speed graphic with focal plane shutter, so barrel will work. Quirky is fine, under $500,...
Yes, I’ve removed that screw and it’s opposite is missing. The plate rotates loosely but can’t come up due to the conical shape of the lens tube. I’ll be trying to get that tube off again when I get...
Hello LF folk,
How do any of you find replacement screws for repairs? Specifically, I’m now looking for the teeny tiny screws that hold the “index” plate ( top faceplate) of my Ilex Acme #3 synchro...
Thank you Duo! I will certainly do that once more before attempting the dangerous unscrewing again.
Thank you for the pdf, Paul. Very helpful indeed! It’ll go in the Manuals folder. In answer to your statement, yes, the lens tube diameter ( now I know what to call it) appears to bevel inward at the...
Hey folks, I have accrued a couple lenses for my portrait use and have run into a stumbling block. Maybe one of you can help.
I tried the soak/rinse/actuate, in naptha/painter's solvent and while...
