Tried the methods and made some checks you guys advised and it kept it straight. I think what the issue is, is that sometimes I'd put the dark slide in and accidentally insert it between the film...
Excellent, thanks for the advice. I think when this kind of stuff happens I'm using front rise/fall every time. Will check it out with/without movements and hopefully can find the culprit.
Just processed a few negatives from a recent trip and found this weird line to the left hand side of my negatives. But only for a few of them, not all of them. I know it's not the lens because I've...
Thanks for the tips everyone. When I'm on my LF trips I have the camera pre set up in the backseat because I'm shooting with it all day, and when I stop to make an exposure I just pop it on the...
Title says it all! I’m on a trip shooting 4x5 this weekend and it looks like I’m gonna get rained out tomorrow and potentially Sunday. Does anyone have tips for shooting in the rain? I had a couple...
I got my MFA a few years ago and it's been a struggle to get into teaching college. I've only been able to get adjunct positions over the years and have had to take full time jobs outside of the...
I recently picked up the 2521 that can do 6 sheets at a time. I used to have the multi tank 5 and was able to use it with a Beseler motor base, but the 2520 just isn't big enough for the motor base....
Canson Baryta is an excellent choice too, have you tried the Canson Platine Fibre Rag? My all time fav paper.
Most of the time when I've gotten stuff from KEH I got EX or above, and those items turned out to be like new. I once got a Leica IIIc and it had had a CLA with a new shutter curtain, got it for a...
I've used both and didn't notice any differences between either or. The 2500 reels are nice because you can load 12 sheets at a time. I usually use a rotary but sometimes the manual reel, same...
Hey all, I just recently acquired a Calumet C2 roll film back and it's great! Only thing is it touches my linhof's ground glass, and I'm afraid it will dig into it more over time. I read another...
basically any camera with a graflok back will grant you phase one access. id go with a linhof if you want to do all that stuff, it gives you a little more movements than a speed graphic and has a...
In flex color there's a dialog box that has a histogram with RGB values. If you bring the farthest left point in to where the histogram rises, and do the same on the left you'll find that you can...
I like using photoshop and lightroom combined. Lightroom is great for cataloging all of your files and making quick edits. There's a tab at the top that allows you to open the files as layers or...
Sounds good! I was out earlier today and the wind was awful. Yesterday was much better for pictures. Glad its going well!
Too bad a hasselblad x1 is only 13k
the 750 is a great scanner, with no scanned image to look at or a list of your settings nobody can help you
Hi John,
Welcome! I'm right across the river in Somerville, definitely lots of good architecture in Boston. Where are you planning on shooting?
Noah
The PX625/13 batteries are still available online thru b&h. Since you're an educator I'm sure you can get some sort of discount. What school do you teach at? Nice to know people are still shooting...
Hey gang, I just ordered some of this film after doing a little research and wanted to see if anyone is currently shooting this. My main developer will be XTOL 1:1 (or whatever dilution works best)...
Hi Bob,
The serial on mine is 56399, what year would that be?
Thanks!
you tried adjusting the margins?
So when you select a specific profile for a paper, you can't have access to the advanced color settings. Profiles have their own color settings embedded in the software that's preset by the...
For my Deardorff I had an Induro C413 and it was great. A little heavy, but it did the job. I now have an Induro AT313 for my 4x5 and I think 8x10 would work well on that too.
Canson Platine Fibre Rag is my all time favorite paper! Museo Silver is the same as the platine. It reminds me of silver gelatin paper. Also Canson Baryta is a great one as well.
I love older cameras, that looks terrific! Great find!
Most ground glasses are made of soda lime glass. You can tell by taking the glass and looking at the edges, there's a slight greenish tint to it. Steve makes those as well as the borosilicate,...
Last summer I was shooting on a Cambo monorail and with a 90mm 80% of the time. I got a recessed board for it because I could focus at infinity with ease. It was hard to get to the controls...
The MFA doesn't guarantee employment right out of graduation like say majoring in law, health services etc. The art field is very competitive and to have a successful career takes hard work and...
I'd do whatever the hell you want to, Ritter didn't get to where he is today by not trying to learn something new. Chamonix makes beautiful film holders, I'd get one and start there if I were to...
Hey all, I'm finishing up my last year in grad school at MassArt and my thesis show is coming up. It's on view from April 23 - May 5, artists talk April 26, and opening reception April 24 5-8pm. ...
Thanks gang, I wanted to check first before I took it out. Managed to get it out with some of those "advanced techniques" haha.
I've had this Angulon for a hot minute and recently got a technika. As I was screwing the lens down onto the board, I noticed that fully screwed it wasn't flat on the board. I took the board off...
If you've got some time stop by the north end, (haymarket, north station T stop). It's little italy and the architecture is amazing, it's a jump back in time. The molasses flood happened there too....
Looks great! Excited to see the progress
one can try, EDIT, just went and got a better ruler, looks like there is 1/32nd an inch difference with film in place
managed to get the correct distance, thanks for the input everyone!
It was nice to have a dedicated photo store in Cambridge just a few minutes away from my home just in case I needed to get anything. I picked up brand new 4x5 film holders from them last year for a...
Thanks for the input gentlemen, I just made a measurement and without the shims, there's about 1/16th of an inch difference between the film holder and the ground glass. Since I have so many shims I...
I have 14 of them, 6 are a thicker than the others. Is there an easy way to go about measuring? Also, is it normal to have that many? I was surprised to find that much for the GG.
