I use the 90mm Fujinon f8, and Nikkor 150mm 5.6 a lot, but also carry a 210mm calumet f5.6 I think its a schneider or rodenstock. I follow the advice Jim at midwest has offered me. He has never...
BTW I really like the focusing knob and its placement on the chamonix.
Well the Chamonix is a great camera and Ive had a chance to use one for a few days, my only complaint was that the front standard has to screwed down into the appropriate hole, and moved when...
Thanks for the help everyone. Jim from Midwest called me yesterday and I have a replacement on the way. Thanks Jim, again you have saved me!
I was able to work in another format while I await the...
Well I just called Midwest and Jim is out of town, the glass is out of stock.
Anyother Ideas I need this ASAP, thanks everyone.
Great! I'll call Jim at Midwest first thing in the morning!
Thanks
I was shooting portraits yesterday and knocked my camera over breaking the glass. The fresnel was still in tack but the glass with the etched grid is no more. Does anyone know where I might find a...

Thank you all for the advice.
I am also contemplating a Manfrotto 055Mf3 with a 488rc4 head.
Just need to decide between the two.
Thanks again
Looking to replace my 10 year old Bogen 3021 w/ 3047 head with something MUCH lighter!
The Feisols look like the best deal around but I want to get enough tripod and not over-kill to save weight....
I use the 4990 and output to the 3800 and the combo is great, alowing you to print to 16x20 with no problem.

Ted, can you link to the gear bag you are using?
I received the Orvis bag and tried it out today.
I was able to pack three lenses, tachihara 4x5, 6 holders, meter, 3 filters and holder, and a t-shirt darkcolth (the harrison I use would not...
Would a Moskva 5 lens or other lens from a 6x9 folder work?
Any one tried this?
Ole, any ideas on where and what to look for?
I am looking for a lens that will vignette heavily and has that turn of the century swirling bokeh for my 4x5. Any ideas I understand the petvals work well on the larger formats but is there...
Thanks guys.
I ordered the Orvis, for the price i figured that even if it does not work out, I can use it for something. I ll just have to see what of my gear I can get in the bag.
Mark you...
Claude thanks for the photo.
I will have to keep looking, I will need to store the camera in the bag.
Any other ideas?
I am in need of reducing the weight I carry because of an injury.
I came accross Ted Harris' article "bags bags bags" and the Orvis reel bag is appealing to me.
Currently I carry a Tachihara...

Great work. I am from St Bernard. I have made some 4x5 negs of the destruction of the Bayou Savage wild life preserve. I am staying at my mothers in Bellchase and planning to take a ride...
Thanks John, I think Ive made up my mind on the 4990 to scan my 120 and 4x5's. I would like to see what you are capable of with it. posta few images if you get a chance.

I still print everything from 35mm to 4x5 in my traditional darkroom, however we have just bought a new computer. My current 8 year scanner is not USB compatible so I must buy a new scanner. My...
Ive used my Bogen 3021 in 3 feet of salt what many times. I hose it off with fresh water while I flush the outboard on my boat. There is evidence of some corrosion on the springs that lock the...
I shoot a variety of formats.
Hasselblad 500cm for when I don't have time to set up the tripod, or for portrait sessions.
Leica M6 and Nikon F100, Theses are my candid people cameras, I...
I use a 4x5 Tachihara with a 90/150/210 lens set. I was thinking of adding 75 or wider. Can the 75 work on a Tachihara, and still allow some movements (mostly front rise)?
Ive used my Tachihara in the rain. Not a driving rain but light rain. I use my Harrison darkcloth to cover the entire camera. I also discovered that the rain cover on my Photo trekker awII really...
100% traditional B&W here. I don't do color, only for portaits and usually a smaller format. Lugging a 4x5 around can be quite cumbersome and I always have ideas running through my head about a...
I'm sorry to hear that you got burned. Ive been burned before too. Your not the first and will certainly not be the last. I've grown so fed up with it that Ive been buying from Midwest at a higher...
Jeffery, what an excellant suggestion! I will have to try that.
Ive put my tripod in 3-4 feet of water to get a stable platform to get the shot, while I lay on the bow of the boat looking...
My bogen 3021 with 3047 pan tilt head with quick release is finally sucumbing to the salt water in my area. I am looking for a lighter replacment. I use a Tachihara 4x5 and Nikon F100 with an...
I ordered hypam (5 liter) from calumet over two months ago. Still is on backorder. I understand Ilford is still producing, but any idea when? I prefer a liquid fixer. Any suggestions?
David, that nescafe has left horrible streaking on your negative, you may want to try a different brand.
sorry for such an obscure off the wall question. Its just one of those things that you remember reading somewhere and can't recall it later or its on the tip of your tongue. I knew that there had...
