If you’re referring to the vignetting, I believe I got my filter holder in the shot. Hadn’t tested it on the 90mm lens yet.

These were all 4x5 except for the portrait which was done on 8x10.
I reached out to a fellow forum member who had some binders of Kodak marketing material from the 90's, hoping to have them scanned and posted as a reference of what is possible with E6 film. These...
When scanning C41, it is difficult to know what corrections to make as a scanner operator. An inverted image that looks too cold to the scanner operator may look too warm to the shooter. It's best to...
Not sure how I missed that. Thank you!
Interesting. About a week ago, upon reviewing some E6 slides from a couple years ago, I saw this same problem. I wonder if it is the sleeves I keep them in. What kind of sleeves are you keeping your...
I would say that it’s insufficient agitation. I would try inverting the tank. I normally do a couple of inversions once per minute, but you can vary this to taste. To avoid leaks, squeeze the tank...
Love the arrangement of this scene Graeme, especially the glass! Beautiful lighting.
Mike,
I'm assuming you're using the MOD54 film holder with your Patterson tank? Could you provide any details on your processing method? Loading, inversion method, etc. The more detail the better....
Sorry, I meant DOS.
Bernice,
Your PM inbox is full, contact me through my site - www.vancouverdrumscan.com - and we will discuss. I think this would be a fun project to do, and I'd like to see the results myself. If...
Are you still interested in doing this? I’d be happy to scan these for you and share them.
Does anybody have the 4500 FST software for windows? I didn't get a chance to download it before everything was deleted off the Scan-Hi-End group.
Thanks!

Tyler,
I think it would help if you either recorded a video, or wrote down the sequence of messages that are shown on the scanner screen during the prescan calibration. This way we can see at...
Lovely photo and colours Pali. Confirms my love for Portra 400!

Apparently most of what Aztek does for their preventative maintenance is replacing those connectors.

Andrej,
I haven't tried using VueScan, so I can't comment on that. I would suggest trying the trial of basICColor Input and see if it improves your results. If not, then you know it's not VueScan...
I’d have to second what Richard has said. There’s absolutely no way an Epson scanner can match a good drum scan... not only in resolution but in shadow detail as well.

basICColor Input has a free 14 day trial you could use. It's a very good piece of software. I just wrote a guide to profiling using it in this section of the forum.

I find these settings work best for my scanner and target, but feel free to play around and see which combination gives you the lowest average Delta E. Click start profiling to...

Scroll down until you find your particular scanner target, and click to select it. Once selected, click on the circled search bar to choose your reference file. Once this is done,...
Thought I'd make a post after almost ripping my brains out over profiling my scanner.
This seems to be the easiest way to make a scanner profile. I'm using a 6x7 Hutchcolor target, but this...
Since this lighthouse isn’t real (I think it was built to look like one) it’s very possible they got their inspiration from the one where you live.

Thanks for the kind words Pali, and everyone else. I don’t want to think about how many scanners are sitting in somebody’s garage, like this one was.
6x7 Hutchcolor target is coming in...
Another image from my new scanner. Super excited :)

Noah,
I had a similar problem with banding on my 4500. The bulbs are on trays held in place with two black pressure fit pins. In my case, they weren't pushed in all the way and that was causing...
Hey everyone,
As I recently acquired a drum scanner, I was considering in the future possibly offering my services to everyone. Is there any demand for a cheaper drum scanning service in Canada?...
