Any color work?

Dedicated doesn’t means designed for it, one of the uses of ‘native’ an adjective. I guess I spent enough time around code. LOL

P.S.
Ancesters? If you meant ‘ancestors’ then most...
I remember trying a cut 2X5 with a 4x5 camera.
Nowadays I’m happy enough with the 4x10 camera.
Shooting mostly aerial. Probably a pain in the enlarger but it scans beautifully in the drum.
I...
That’s a wonderful image!

I love the format.
I wonder how many members are shooting in this format. The idea is to share resources, film, etc.

Interesting. I own one and the glass seems quite clear. The box reads 80-0002 so perhaps there’re more than one version.
Trying to focus fully open is a pain so I use it at 5.6

The weight and size of that scanner should be considered. You can transport any Howtek in a Yaris. If I understand correctly that’s not the case of many other scanners. You may have to pay for a...
I don’t remember where I read a good starting point was sqtr(2), ie 1.4142.

Wider dynamic range I agree but I feel E6 registers blues cleaner than C-41, IMHO.

I must be way drunk (or blind). I can’t remember anything in the c41/ra4 space close to a well developed kodachrome/e-6 when it comes to color accuracy.

That’s it! :) At least the way I see it.
If you get the setup back in place try with the candle lighted. It should be a tricky exposure and compensation for light temperature and spectral response...
Unsolicited question. Did you consider cropping a little from the left?

While looking for information about this lens I noticed a different format in the engraving order. Perhaps other forum members that are familiar with Ross know if this was a common practice. Both...
Trust me, I do not need to post in your thread. Actually, I don’t think you would find another idiot like me, who had such a curiosity in those scanners to purchase each model and I’m kind of...
Thanks to all for the posts but it seems like somebody carved the FAQ in stone. I found a thread on the same subject here:...
Just to make it clear, I have nothing against smaller formats, which I like as much as any other. It's the discrepancy between the criteria stated in the FAQ and the sorting of the images in the...
Sure. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the use of the term "sheet film" should be replaced by "material or medium".
Also making sure all the images from the digital backs marketed as 4x5 are...
Agree with the approach but if I am reading it correctly, it does not match the FAQ. Here's a copy and paste:
...Commonly accepted definitions base large format photography on 4"x5" and larger...
It's in the FAQ. It was a moderator the one who suggested to check the forum FAQ for the LF definition in the thread "May 2016 portraits".
Agree. I do not know why the FAQ limits the media to "sheet film". IMHO, it should be open to any material and/or medium capable of capturing an image of certain size regardless of technology. I also...
I am trying to understand the logic behind what is considered or not LF in this forum, according to the FAQ.
If I read it correctly:
- Direct positives, regardless the size, are not considered LF...
Nice portrait! Very likely a Graflex with a 405 adapter.
Please ignore the comments about what size is considered LF. After all the images out of a 4x5 holder are also 3.x by 4.x. To me anything...
Astia did the job as intended, good skin tones and low contrast. But IMHO, E100G was/is a better balanced and overall film.
Just remembered another source, the drum itself. Although the dimensions of the drum for the 4500 is similar to the 8000/Premier, the drums are not interchangeable without modifications. The one for...
My pleasure. Scan as much as you can. That's the best way to test it. And you are right. The problem seems more related to connections than anything else.
Thinking about reducing vibrations. Make...
Remember to keep all the cables entering in the controllers (VDC, VDD, etc.) properly bundled. Not a fan of tie-wraps for this task. I think velcro does a safer job. The idea is to minimize any...
Perhaps when you removed the optical box you also moved the connector with issues feeding the HV.
The only part you have to be careful is the junction of the white cable to the connector itself. So always grab the connector to plug and unplug it, never by the cable. Same thing with ground.
You will always have more control if you use the room temperature, if possible.
Sure. Here's one from a Howtek scanner using Silverfast's target. 8K dpi native. No adjustments of any kind, of course.
150515
Same image interpolated to 11K dpi, for comparison purpose only. ...
If I am reading this correctly the resolution is not even 4000 dpi. But I don't think the issue here is the target. I would double-check the focus using pieces of 1 mil overlays.
In any case, if...
Actually, I think, one of these copies of 3321 is mercury-free. I guess the one with the dark, big blue tip.

Not sure why you need the extra accuracy for B&W development. What kind of setup are you using?
It seems a little worse. Any samples with the scanner?
