Besides the appropriate funds, I'd need exact inside dimensions of the tank, to start designing and fabrication.
I could be persuaded to make a custom unit, if one were to have a suitable enclosure…and appropriate funds :)
I wish 5x7 would work. Certainly not for the Paterson tank.
Just not enough room.
I don’t know of any other, widely available, cylindrical tank, that could work as a daylight safe inversion tank....
I sent you a direct message.
Made out of sandblasted aluminum (sometimes carbon fiber), and stainless steel rods, these holders fit a standard Paterson 3 tank. They hold 8 sheets of 4x5 film, and need 1 liter of solution. Other...
This stuff works very well

Does constant agitation flatten the mids?
Great. Thank you.
Excellent work !!
Love the concept and execution.
Hopp Schwiiz !! ;-)
Any reason, why one shouldn't use LED strip lights as a light source? Some green, blue and UV ones perhaps?
I've used both glues on the bk5 fabric, and they haven't failed, 2-3 years later.
yes, it's good. Used in two layers, it's lightproof.
Glue the ribs on with 3m transfer tape, or 77 spraymount, on the shiny side of the fabric.
As it's very thin and flexible, bellows larger than...
Beautiful !
I own that exact 11x14, chinese ebay tent. I've only used it at home, for the past 4 years or so, once or twice a month. It's light tight, doesn't smell or feel sticky.
If it was a light leak or internal reflection, the line wouldn't be as sharp and focused as it is.
If you're scanning your negatives, make sure that the startup calibration area of the CCD sensor is...
Both really. I tested it with a flash, and minute amount of stray light was coming through a single layer. Maybe neglect able, but having the ribs in between the two layers, just made sense to me.
I've used the BK5 material on several bellows that I've made. Two layers with stiffening ribs sandwiched in between works great, light proof and very flexible. The downsides are, that it's difficult...
Very, very, very cool !!
I used phosphor bronze shim stock for my build

Looks great !
Can't wait to see the final product.
Looking good. Really like the beech wood.
Wow!! ULF indeed !! Looks clean and sturdy. I like it.
Can you extend the bellows out to 1:1 lifesize magnification?
As a side note, I have a hard time seeing the 48”x48” size, in relationship to...
What an awesomely pragmatic approach. Bravo !!
Great project though to sink one's teeth in ...
I've used this one:

works great.
I don't know to what overall level of quality you're building your camera, but I'd say that those ebay linear bearings will be more than adequate.
A difference between a low cost bearing from china...
I find that contac cements, such as Pliobond 25, work great, but are hard to apply cleanly.
Transfer tape is a good alternative. Easy to apply and doesn't degrade over time. Somewhat expensive...
very nice!
how did you make it?
There's an option out there for anybody that is not Anish Kapoor.

Which ones are and why do you ask?
The supports I made are somewhat adjustable (the carbon fiber rod can be moved forwards and backwards, depending on bellows extension), and are far from ideal, BUT the bellows have yet to show up in...
I did consider that, but didn't know how to attach the tabs to the fabric without introducing the possibility of eventual light leaks.
yes, maybe some double stick tape to pull it up, or close the slide in the upright position only? Hard to do with my changing tent setup ...
The slide definitely does flex to the point of touching the septum. The leading edge there is rounded and sanded smooth to facilitate the entry into the bottom flap. I have not checked my negatives...
Actually it did take care of about 75% of the bow, and the straight and rigid walnut stiles did the rest.
That looks like a reasonable way to construct the stiles. When gluing up the sandwich, minimize glue squeeze out in the dark slide and septum slots if you can. Maybe mask it with clear tape or spot...
In hindsight, a 1/16" thick Garolite septum could have been sufficient as well, but 1/8" is not a bad choice, all things considered. A lot (most?) of the rigidness off the holder will come from the...
Disregarding cost, I'd go with 1/8" carbon fiber sheets. Lightweight, flat, stable, lightproof.
Next choice would be Garolite or black acrylic. Garolite would be very consistent in thickness,...
That's a good question !
The short answer would be that form does not always follow function. There's a lot of hot, artistic air in the design of the base.
I wanted the camera to have a...
The septum is actually also Garolite XX, .125" thick. The beige color was cheaper than pure black. The machined concentric circles were an effort to relieve the stress in the material and flatten it...
1/32" is definitely thin and can easily snap and break if mishandled. It is however 100% light proof and the weight savings compared to a 1/16" thickness, just made sense to me. Maybe even more of a...
