Wow. Guess they really didn't need the Zone system back then, huh? :-)
I can't get over how sharp and contrasty all the images are. #75, #80 are my favs.
I assume these must come from scans...

Bit late to conversation, but I thought I would add this as an FYI:

Of what use is LR to a large format photographer who makes silver gelatin prints, which are just one of many different types of prints that can be made. Although, we all know that it's the final...
I've driven past that glacier I don't know how many times - it's difficult to photograph from the road due to the trees, but you can find the odd clear area on the other side of the road to get a...
I agree. It's a very unusual place; it feels like you're on the moon, except with the odd tree here and there :-)
To touch something that old and alive, was....moving.
And, as a bonus, if...
It's not fantastic - it's Mars! :-)
Spine of the World.
Very cool!
Hey, tripod-to-tripod is the norm in Yosemite, especially at the popular locations. I always get a chuckle out of the row of photographers at Tunnel View, regardless of the quality of light.
...
Hey, I've done exactly the same thing. If you're not paying attention, it's an easy thing to do.
I've recently upgraded to Lion, so I should make sure that everything is still working....
The right one.
Reminds me of practically every time I've been to Yosemite, specifically Tunnel View. Regardless of the quality of light, there are always people lined up with their tripods and cameras oriented...
Barnbaum. Love him or hate him, he's made some amazing images in DV.
Group 4 prints received in Calgary - thanks folks, a job well done!
Ok, now I'm really curious. Come on Canada Post, get yer act together!
I store a Rodenstock Sironar-N 150mm on my MT.
Speaking of which :D
Scott, when I get my package of prints, we should get together for a viewing. We're only a few minutes apart....
Naw, that's in Quebec. Here in Alberta, it's all the cow sh*t.
Lol. Come on #10!!
Shipped via DHL today - you should have them tomorrow Darr!
Crap - I'm a bit late - mine will hit the mail tomorrow.
Sorry Darr. Hopefully there's some other laggards :-)
And mine are ready to go as well. Should be shipped Tuesday.
I'm hoping to get my prints made in the next week....got the negative all picked out and everything :D So stay tuned!
I was almost thinking of doing one of the Tonopah trips, but Eddie, I think you've scared me off :D
You need to take however much coffee you drink, and cut back by a 1/2
Seriously tho, those...
Man, he must have been waiting to mail them - what a keener :D
I guess that's motivation for the rest of us!
Bruce Barnbaum stores his negs in his darkroom - he makes his lively hood from these negs, and he's never had an issue, so if it works for him, it'll work for me. He does store his prints outside...
Oops, never mind - I see I'm already in the list. My bad. :D
Can't believe I missed this - count me in!
I've dealt with Blaze Photo (specifically Mike Boylan) for a replacement bellows and cleaning for my Master Technika, and have been more than satisfied with their service.
The email address you...
Pffft. What do you know about masking?
(Yes, I know who he is)
I'll add my 0.02 regarding how to improve:
- make lots of negatives
- make contact prints. Or 'contact scans'. Play with...
What did you end up using for the naptha and mineral spirits? I'm curious where you got your materials from.
I've hunted around here a bit, and the only naphtha I've found is camping fuel, and...
Hmmm, looks to me like your channeling the Color Ansel :D
I like it. The colorization of the image is interesting.
Bruce - glad to see you're increasing your product line. As an initial adopter of your lens cases way-back-when, I've been completely satisfied with that I currently have. You offer a great, robust...
I'm surprised you can't find a similar enlarger in your area - you've got the population.
Have you checked Craig's List for LA?
Even if it were more expensive than the one being sold here in...
Never. Don't like the look, at least for my photographs.
That's correct. If you ship anything by courier, they *will* levy any applicable duties on the package - no exceptions.
As Greg says, if you ship something by Mail, there's a chance that you may...
My daughter received it for me today, while I was at work. I have therefore received, opened, inspected, and enjoyed the contents.
I think I've made myself clear :D
I've been informed that the print package has arrived (3 weeks after being sent).
Real quality control is a rare commodity nowadays.
Which is why I choose to make my own mounting jigs. They're as accurate as you want (or need) them to be.
I've used Barnbaum's technique for a long time....
First of all, save your mat board cutoffs. They're useful not only for mounting smaller prints, but the 'long edge' cut-offs can be used to make...
Well, apparently the strike is going ahead tonite.....and who knows how long it'll last - it could last a day, or it could go on for weeks.
Thanks for the offer Mike, but that's more than a...
