You can get a $25 Manfrotto tilting head or an expensive RRS head to get verticals out of the Crown since it lacks a revolving back. Or just screw it in to the mounting hole on the handle side for...

Freaking cats are evil....
I may have a 57 Norma outfit to sell in a couple weeks....
It's the other guys, not me haha, maybe i could start an Army... I've owned two 110 conversions and several Graphics and Technikas, they are all good fun. For the money it is hard to beat a Graphic...
Ding Ding Ding
opps lol the new spellcheckers get me in worse trouble.
I'll risk shooting individuals at 1/60th @ f/5.6 but most homes are not that bright on their own, unless you pose looking out of a window or something like that.
With two side by side people I'd...
For lower end stuff, sell through a good frame shop that has architectural firms and interior designers as clients. Every large architectural firm has interior people and that can be part of their...
I don't see how you could have enough ambient interior light to do any sort of large format group portrait with ISO 400 film, much less ISO 100. So take them outside earlier in the day and find some...
Thanks, I know this from sad experience.... Now, about Georgia... it's hot and humid there. That's not a good combo for the older, overweight model or photographer. I know that from sad experience...
Could you imagine what would be the reaction? I'd probably be investigated on some Hate Crime law then audited.
The prime time for female models is in between the age of self-awareness (and legality) and that dim, dark infinity of cat ownership. Once they start getting cats it's over, they are no longer free,...
Without pretty girls and crazy men the photo world would be rather empty, wouldn't it?
Or keep the Tachi since it's resale value is less than a Chamonix. And pick up one of the $250 metal monorails with unlimited movements and infinite bellows for your studio work and extreme lenses....
It's a pretty ratio. The cameras aren't twice as large even though the film area is nearly so. But the disadvantages are significant too.
The good advice here for the newcomer is just to...
You guys go keep on writing, he's just going to do what he's going to do... All this info is on the frontend of this website, let him read it first.
It's just anticipatory testosterone being expelled at the forthcoming gay photos that are bound to come.
Depends on the environment (wind and rocks or calm and smooth) and your tolerance for movement. There have been people claiming that they use #2 Gitzos with their light 8x10s so this would be the...
I don't think such a book exists, a pity. Perhaps a market for an author?
Yeah that was the rationale. In the mid-90s it was a battle for my business because they didn't want to give up the super-high rates they charged for scans and retouching, I was undercutting them at...
It's zero if the darn things break a few miles from the car. That's the thing that gets me about them, there is no indication of when they are going to fail and you can blow six shots instead of one...
I've used that head too, a light 4x5 would be OK. It is one of the better Manfrotto designs IMHO.
I used to use Grafmatics quite a bit and owned up to eight at one time. Granted, I think they do keep your film flatter than the normal holders and perhaps they are easier to manage than three...
We were just talking about grain aliasing on the small format thread... Perhaps they scanned them too stopped down?
In hindsight I figured it was because of the drum scanners prejudice and lousy software, because you could make a fine enlarger print from a 35mm neg so the sharpness was there, just not the...
That's a great idea, thanks Ian!
Eh I'll take VPS over EPP anyway, I am scanning stuff from the pre-digital times and it is comparable to modern Portra films. As for it's archival qualities, who knows but so far so good after 20-25...
Scan of an old print, shot 6x9 on the Fuji rangefinder for Steuben Glass ~ 1991
Why we had to use chrome film to be professional was so f-ing stupid.

A good fix for Grafmatics is to remove the septums. Flatten them out if the corners are bent. Then sell the septums for $6 each.
Problem solved.
I'm going to do digital collages if the money is there....
It's actually a request from a subject! At least I'm not shooting plates ;-)
$100 or even $200 is cheap, I'm really lazy, what is the simple answer?
I'm dreaming of a fast, Brass, and French model with nice engraved cursive writing already expertly mounted on a black...
Please don't refer to my prior five years of snide comments about swirly lenses;-p
Looking for something cheap and easy to play with on a 4x5 Speed, cult $$$ lenses need not apply.
If I were the Greg Miller the golfer then maybe....
I don't want to leave my bunker, daylight is scary.
I like the one that had a small Vice Grip pliers semi-permanent attached to tighten the focusing. Abusive photographers would overtighten the knobs, eventually cutting metal and requiring greater and...
Excellent. Is there a story?
Geezum all good
I've done that too, yeah sometimes you can pop it back.
I'm always amazed that people are satisfied with 50-60" tripods, as if they never consider shooting from a higher point of view. I bet they...
