I've just posted information on my website re: upcoming Photoshop workshops and other events for 2007, including a pair of "new" workshops. While these are not restricted to Large Format...
IMO the digital signature would be a bad, bad idea. I agree with the good points above, and also...
If I were your customer and receive your print with original signature, my thoughts are...
Joe - I don't recall any particular barns, but I wasn't specifically looking for them last time I was in the UP in 2003. Most of my driving there is along M-28 and other major roads; I wouldn't be...
FALL IN THE SMOKIES - OCTOBER 2006
I'd like to announce upcoming LF-oriented workshops in the Smokies, both based in Townsend, TN. Note that I won't offer these workshops in fall 2007 due to...
Bruce - lots of great areas, but my favorite would be several of the small lakes in Hiawatha NF, south of Munising. I stay at Sunset Motel in Munising. There are a number of restaurants in that town;...
Hi Bruce - what areas do you want to visit? IMO the most productive areas are Porcupine Mts and surroundings at the west end; Pictured Rocks and the many small lakes in Hiawatha NF south of Munising....
Excellent work, Joe. Looks like you've been very productive!
Unfortunately, Horseman discontinued their excellent bino reflex viewer some time ago. I use one with my Ebony and love it. They can occasionally be found on the used market, but they're quite scarce.
Jim, thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated!
I should add that the next Photoshop for Photographers session runs from 18-22 September 2006, once again based in South Bend, IN. Full details...
Greetings from South Bend as well, Michael. Contrary to what some may think, there are quite a few of us LF shooters in Indiana!
Folks - my "Midwest" Intro to Large Format summer session approaches for 2006. The session runs 2 days, 13-14 August, and is based this year at Fernwood Botanical Gardens in Niles, MI. This is in the...
For 4x5 (and the occasional 5x7 + 617 with rollfilm back) - 47, 72, 80, 90, 110, 150, 210, 300, 450, 720. All carried in the pack; I use mostly 150 and up, with 300 being the most-used. I've used the...
Don't be too quick to give up on the SV45Ti...it's *not* difficult to set up quickly. My SV45U2 has the same setup procedure and it can go from bag to attaching the lens in 15-20 seconds. It's *very*...
It's a wonderful feature and goes a long way toward my views of streamlining LF camera use. As a landscape shooter, I use it perhaps 85-90% of the time; in other words, those times when I have no...
If anyone has attempted to send email since yesterday (Monday), please try again - I've discovered that a server problem was blocking incoming mail. Thanks!
Thanks for the good words, Rakesh!
I'm in the "rate it at 100" camp. I tried it once at 160, it proved insufficient, and 100 has worked very well ever since.
Regards,
Danny www.dannyburk.com
Then, Rakesh, you'll surely be aghast when I show you that I've got a few touches of epoxy applied to my Ebony's titanium :)
I like a card that fits a shirt pocket, so I made one half-size with a 2.5" x 2" opening; I hold it at half of the lens focal length, i.e. at 3" (75mm) to approximate a 150mm lens.
I've also...
I was able to do a direct comparison of Ebony vs Maxwell screens using identical cameras with identical lenses. While Ebony's screen is indeed excellent, I have a slight preference for Maxwell. The...
Glad to hear that it's on its way. Now the fun begins :)
Thanks for the good word, Scott!
Danny Burk Photography, LLC offers two LF-oriented workshops in April, 2006, based in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee:
On 15-16 April is a 2-day Introduction to Large Format....
In light rain, I use a frosted shower curtain with a lens-sized hole cut out, which I drape over the entire camera and tripod. If it's raining too hard, I don't shoot (too much foliage motion in...
Scott - I think you're aware that I've become very fond of NPS for those too-contrasty-for-transparency situations. I've been using NPS for a bit over a year, with great results. Over the weekend, I...
Absolutely agreed. I've used a Maxwell screen for about 4 years and it's unquestionably the best I've seen. I recommend them highly to my LF workshop participants, and they've been as pleased as I...
I wonder whether the problem is related to recently-purchased QL holders? I've had three individuals in my recent workshops who've experienced a problem with various types of QL, and every one was...
Eric - perhaps a little farther than you'd like, but I teach Intro to LF workshops on a regular basis. The next one is coming in just two weeks in the Smokies; see my website for detailed info:

Ebony doesn't produce a viewer. They're able to modify Horseman viewers, but the latter have unfortunately been discontinued.
I've suggested to Ebony that they produce a viewer, but the opinion...
