Artars of different ages will be different sizes, my 24" is later than yours, an aluminum barrel one, and my compound IV flange (also with a 240 Heliar in it) is way too big.
A fixed focus box could be a thing, maybe not the longest lived object, but could be a lot of fun for at least a few outings. (I used to do a lot of pinhole in a variety of sizes in both plywood and...
We used to do this a lot in the Polaroid 20x24 Studio, using a front surface mirror at 45 deg to the lens to look straight down. It works great, keeping in mind any type in the image will be...
IIRC, the lens cells together weigh 10lbs and the shutter weighs 8lbs. When I make a new aluminum barrel I'm sure it will weight less and be less bulky(which is the real goal).
In 2018 I bought what may have been the last two tubes (1 blue 1 green) for the Aristo 8x10 VC head.... I have not gotten around to installing them in my hand-me-down Aristo head.
A client of mine bought some new packs and heads during 2023, so, I think they're still going.
Mcmaster has gear rack in acetal plastic for a fraction of the steel or brass prices. (you DO need to correctly identify the pitch and pressure angle though)
Could be a "Junior" sized plug which IIRC is 1 1/8". Many heavy duty light stands and grip equipment use that size where the stand has a socket and the device has a pin.
Fairchild made the shutters, so B&L and Kodak would have had to make all their lens cells to fit. My 12" f/2.5 is in a "Night Photo Shutter" which does not have an adjustable aperture, it is always...
The threads of the 12" and 24" Aero-Ektars are the same. (I still haven't freed the front cell of the 24" Extar to measure spacing)
I'm only mounting it on a lensboard for the 16x20 camera I'm building for him. He'll be shooting wetplate, portraits.
I am thinking I'll build myself a sturdy 8x10 with no front movements for my 12"...
zbima1 on Ebay makes good boards, very reasonably priced. Might be happy to take on a new size if he's not already making it.
I have a customers 24" Aero Ektar here and will check the barrel length if I can to see if they are the same. At the moment, the front cell is resisting removal.
(and yes, it is f/6.0)
I'll be curious to see whether Jasons and my measurements agree. (see my previous post above, #4 in this thread )
I just took a quick measurement of the shutter of my 12" f/2.5 Aero Ektar. It's a tough measurement to make, so, I am probably off by a few thou', but I got 3.867"
Don't think so, there are tilts on both standards, though the lock locations are unusual. I second the thought that it could be an Ebony brand product.
Salt Prints were often waxed in the 19th C, and it seems to have helped protect the from deterioration from environmental contaminants. PL/PT is much more stable than Salt though, so, maybe not...
Yep, +1 on the historical precedent of beeswax with a very small amount of lavender oil, you want to wax the prints not oil them. It gives a little sheen and deepens the look of the Dmax.
I use opposing strap wrenches (like you can buy at the auto parts store for oil filters). If the parts don't move, I will put a drop of light penetrating oil on the seam and give it a day to...
Search "150 lens shutter" on Ebay, MANY MANY inexpensive (but good quality) offerings.
I have had Fuji lenses in #3-S shutters. FYI.
That Industar is a barrel lens, made for reproduction work, it may not have ever been offered in a shutter. The flange pictured is a replacement for the mounting flange that would have come stock...
Johnson, Murray, Bull, All those artists work inspire. Thanks for sharing the link.
I've done this a couple times too, plywood clamp for the lens cell and plywood clamped down to the bridgeport, strap wrench on the barrel. Works !
Looks like the front cell shoulld unscrew like most lenses do, assuming there are no set screws holding it in place. Opposing strap wrenches work great, but sometimes you need to get some penetrating...
They also made Series D and Super Ds in 3.25"x4.25".
I'm assuming you're talking about a 4x5 Super D. Either lens would probably fit fine on a 3.25"x4.25".
All 8x10 processors made by Polaroid need a loading tray to take the 81-06 film holder.
Why not get some surplus 9.5" Aerial rollfilm ? It's a little smaller than 11" but it's already on a roll.
I realize I never updated the forum on this. I shortened the tube on the back of the lens, and it seems like it will cover 3.25" x 4.25", but can't be used on the Graflex (nor on my Plaubel Makiflex)...
+1 on cleaning out the old grease and relubricating with similar thick stuff. It's not hard, but it's not fun, the old grease is a real pain to clean out, it gets everywhere, so wear gloves and have...
The V with wings could be Hasselblad, the had (have?) a logo like that, the V is for Victor Hasselblad.

If you work out how much magnification you want, and what the distance will be from the lens to your plate, the math to determine the needed focal length is a simple algebraic equation.
Average...
You DON'T want to overheat the barrel, it is most likely fabricated from multiple pieces of brass..
I used Marine epoxy and fiberglass cloth, think "inside out boat". Sink interior is 30" x 12'.
THIS:
In these cameras, there was a parallel section of gear rack that engaged the rise/fall pinion if you pushed or pulled, I don't remember which.
Front cell is net negative, looks like three elements in two groups.
My rear cell ("normal") seems to be a strongly positive single element (meniscus with very slightly concave inner surface and a...
According to previous posts about this lens, the "normal" rear cell is unmarked and the other two are marked "medium" and "extreme".
With that said, though, I've just put my "normal" ie: unmarked...
Oh cool. I have the 10.5" with the NON soft focus (unmarked) rear cell, also in a semi-working older black Ilex Universal #5. I need to mount it on my V8 and see what it does.
