And THAT seems to be the lesson that I too have a hard time learning. Ya gets whats ya pays for. Inexpensive scanners become expensive in quantity.
I have notes that say blurb.com and iphoto books (mac) are good quality printers.
Any modern video editing program. Macromedia flash would also work.
I agree.
It certainly appears with scanners that you get what you pay for.
I would prefer that the M1 be a $2000 scanner.
At first I thought Chris was doing sculpture, like this:

Of course if you make graphic art with photoshop at print it really, really big, it's the...
Ted, are they getting you a test unit? Did he know price?
What are you trying to do?
Generally, with LF panoramics are made with a single sheet of film. 6x17, 4x10, or a crop. The first multiple film method I would try is making three exposures using...
Is there a 5x7 with a 4x5 reducing back?
I do believe you would find that the yearly expenditure for art and art-like decorative objects is at a high.
But I don't believe it's simple at all. Just that there's a huge market between a lady...
The closer you are to the mass of new photographers, the harder it becomes. Landscapes from a dlsr printed at 13x19? Your work needs to be at the very top of a huge "pyramid" of competitors.
...
I have to ask - to what advantage is using the adapter? Shooting the 5D, with a Canon lens, on a tripod will produce the same result. It will also be easier to use and probably sharper.
The 100% view won't look as good as dslr digital at the same magnification. But the much bigger file should make a very detailed print. This should be true for any of the consumer scanners mentioned...
Or like watching a movie on television rather than the theater.
But with Jorge I think we can talk about "ad hominem" arguments.
What's up with that Jorge. Do unto others, dude.
I have no idea what the "straw man" arguement is in this case. I'm not anti-digital at all.
O.T. The temperature effect of no contrails in the US for a few days after 911 is very interesting. Well, interesting for those interested in science over FOX news.
Subtly threaten to use Colbert head as the building block of a huge unflattering image. That'll keep in line.
I see. Make it big enough and it's art. I need to look at that new epson 60 inch printer.
I saw his 8x10 work in a gallery. Made an effort to see it.
Considering how his new work was created, yes I have seen it "in person". Right here on my computer monitor.
I like his new stuff. I...
I'm sure I paid more for my RRS pano head. If well implemented it could be a nice addition to a digital camera. Someday someone may actually take a good gigapixel photograph.
Why do you presume to know why I interpret his work as I do.
I do agree that how it is made detracts from it's beauty. Or perhaps detracts from the emotional impact. His 8x10 work has more impact.
I didn't know those coolers were so inexpensive. I'll get one for cool drinks on the road.
Is the "pro" refrigerated film we use more temperature sensitive than regular film?
I do keep it in a cooler in the car, but that cooler isn't cooled unless it's hot outside. I mostly want to keep...
Genetic engineering will soon allow a few of us to kill most of us. So be happy.
We need to take better care of our planet, but the population problem is temporary.
Science will solve the...
Great for Chris. I like his new work. I wondered why he wasn't around. Never met him personally, but he seems like a nice guy.
If he's an artist, why does the media matter?
Exactly right. There has never been more disposable income. It's about product, markets, and marketing.
I talked to a woman yesterday who was laughing at herself for spending $450 on three dog...
Any more success or failure stories with this technique? The example above is impressive.
This guy is became wealthy selling "reproductions" and spends his time doing what he likes - traveling and shooting:

From my observations, B&W photographers don't last long on the art show circuit.
The number of truly bad photographers at many "juried" shows is stunning.
The guys who make good money have big...
Wow, you're right
I have for sale everything you need to setup a B+W darkroom. Too much to list, please contact for more info. I'll be happy to show it to interested parties.

Brian, wonderful work on your web site. I need to see your prints.
Question for everyone: Why choose a very expensive flatbed over a drum scanner? I understand the need for prepress - a flatbed is...
Qimage or a rip is pretty much mandatory if you're printing from a PC. Qimage is great and should be tried before an expensive rip.
Mines about four years old #162455
The new k3 inks for the 4880/7880/9880 are Vivid Light Magenta and Vivid Magenta. The other 6/7 inks remain the same.
So if I buy a 4880 most of the inks would be common with my 7800.
The ink cost...
Any further suggestions for NY fall color? I've visited the Adirondacks twice in the fall, but was always confused as to the best locations.
As a photo destination, yes.
As a workshop, probably not.
How many rooms?
I need a 17", or possibly 13" printer to supplement my Epson 7800 that runs matte ink. I don't see Canon mentioned much here. How would those printers compare to buying a 3800 or 4800?
My primary...
