I sold William the holders
I may have mis-represented the condition on one of the holders, but to my eyes it was working or at least could be used with minimal repair
I sold him 3 plus parts...
hi guys, check it out my images and kickstarter on outside magazine website and blog!!!
...
Ha rich, trust me alta does not hate snowboarders.. in fact there quite a lot of boarders in the book believe it or not!!!
Thanks guys, if u can spare a litle bit, please help back the project, my print costs are looking about $10000. Its 150 plus pages of photography!!!
Hi guys!
Back in 2008, I started a project shooting portraits on an 8x10 at my favorite ski resort, Alta, Utah.
So after 4 years, and a lot of winter shooting, I have 150 portraits and the book...
I tell u what I like about ansel. He valued his time and his work properly. He charged 12,000 for the 16x20 moonrise in the 1970s - 1980s should say it all.
thats how i feel too.. why not just enjoy what you love?
Sad to see such a great giant move so far from its core competence..
sad to hear but im sure graflex will live on for many many more years
interesting.. when is eddie doing a gathering?
The issue here is the optar lens. not a very sharp lens..
try a modern plasmat.. nikkor or schnider
or a nice ektar... those are great little lenses.. very sharp stopped down
pretty frikkin sweet
nick. get a top quality crown graphic.. not a ton of movements, but very lightweight and folds up very small.. rugged and durable for outdoor shooting..
I would buy to go along with it:
90mm...
congrats!
no offense to the artist, but I find the work to be absolute drivel
who cares about images of some hooker from the 1970s fading into white. why is this work important? why is it going to be...
why dont u print it in the darkroom?
otherwise,
griffin editions is pretty much as good as it gets in black and white. and i would reccomend you have them print it traditionally..thats what...
ill reiterate LTI, probably the best service in the city.
i use coloredge a lot, very very inexpensive and good reliable service.
i will chime in again and say that the imacon low res files like a 50MB scan look better than an epson scan which is 300MB. sharper, less noise, better colors..
you really want to scan 4x5 at more than 2000 dpi? do you know how big the file will be ? 80 million pixels. thats like a 200-300MB raw file. trust me you can print at like 6 feet by 7 feet easy...
you will not find a more sturdy and rigid camera with a lot of wonderful movements.
anyone driving up from the NYC area?
its a good idea to spray some water from a spritzer bottle in the area right before u hang to dry to remove excess airborn dust.
and for the little leftovers at the tip, just take a bunched paper...
wicked
the larger the format, the shallower the DOF.
f/2.8 on 4x5 is like .95 or so on 35mm
Why not try Portra 160NC? I really like having the latitude of neg film and the portra properly scanned is breathtakingly high quality... If you need more contrast, then its very easy to add in later...
scanning some very old 35mm E100VS and some RVP today. to begin with 35mm is a bitch to get quality images out of.. Kodak showing me once again that their product is far superior in tone and color...
damn im gonna miss the squirrel steaks!?!?!?
agreed.. its more like 3 IMO. even at 3 over, you will lose all highlight definition.
try getting a decent medium format scan. you need wet mounting at least. Ive used it a lot and it does an acceptable job with 6x9 and above... 4x5 is good.. if u get the wet mount its much much...
tele lenses and huge separation of the subject and background.
this is ok I would say. Another year, probably will have sharpness problems.
I cant agree with larry more. Portra is a superior product. I have been consistently amazed what can be accomplished with fresh color negative film.
Portra 160 NC and also 400 NC scan incredibly...
I like it too. its cropped in btw.. and this is a WIDE F#$$%ING OPEN thread its not like it was supposed to be sharp!
cooke f/2.9 165mm goodness. such an incredible lens
Ive owned a V750 and a 4990.
I think the V750 provides better detail and resolution for landscape work.
4990 is acceptable, but not as good IMO especially if you will be doing large prints.
I think we should have a FREE contest here at LF.info judged by some impartial party.
Biggest racket in photography is definitely the photography contest. cmon everyones doing it. pay me 50$ for a chance at photo stardom and exposure.. then ill rape your images for marketing and...
im surprised he didnt pose for you.. nice portraits.
I plan on shooting almost every image going forward with a cooke f/2.9 165mm lens.
